Sunny, laughing, blooming fields, where all is full of hope and happiness, where the children playfully hasten over green meads as free as the birds of the air.
The smile of his old best friend as well as his first and only true love. Days spent messing around, swimming in the warm water, chasing each other. Long nights spent giggling and telling each other secrets until dawn. Always together.
They had grown up together, been inseparable even as teenagers, and then everything had suddenly fallen apart, without warning.
"Do not talk, do not come back."
He shook his head to try to erase the painful memories. All of that had happened a lifetime ago, literally, but he was still suffering.
He missed him. He missed him every day and every hour; missed him in his studies, his occupations and his amusements. He just missed being around him every day. Talking to him, hearing his opinions on shit, hearing his laugh, watching him think, he just fucking missed him.
But he had failed him. He had miserably, horribly and pitifully failed the love of his life.
But now he has been given another chance.
Maybe.
He was there and remembered everything.
He still wasn't sure if fate was giving him a second chance, or if it was just making fun of him.
Well, even if it was a punishment, he'd have accepted it. It had been his fault. It had all been his fault.
However, if it really had another chance, he would do anything to fix the past.
That day he was tired, but he dragged himself to the university admission interview nevertheless. He didn't want to be there, but his parents insisted. And then everything changed. He caught a glimpse the person he had been looking for all his life. Literally.
"Watee!"
He ran after the man screaming his name out loud, but he was moving fast, and didn't seem to hear him.
Making his way through the crowd of students, he ran after the man. He increased his stride, then, without thinking twice, he grabbed him by the shoulder and spun him around.
"Watee!"
Pausing when he reached him, his breath caught hard in his throat when he met his gaze. It was him! There was no doubt, he was his Watee. He found him.
He felt as if a great load were taken from his heart, and for the first time his eyes grew moist with tears — tears of joy and relief.
"I found you." A large, gleaming white smile spread across his face. "Finally I found you."
Kongpob leaned in to hug him, but the other remained motionless, rigid in his arms as his sobs intensified.
After a long, long minute, he backed away, still holding the other by the shoulders.
He couldn't believe he'd found him. He had so much to tell him until he didn't know where to start. He was about to speak, but before he could open his mouth to say anything, the boy beside Watee interjected.
"'Thit, who is this junior? Do you know him?"
'Thit. Was this his name in this life?
Kongpob decided that he liked it.
Watee, or rather 'Thit, looked so handsome in his senior's red jacket, with his raven hair hanging down around his face, framing those rosy plump cheeks, his arched brows squeezed in a frown, his long eyelashes curving gracefully as he blinked.
His big eyes took on an inquisitive look as Kongpob continued to stare hopefully at him.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, he turned to the husky man who had just spoken.
"I've never seen him in my life."
And Kongpob felt his heart break at hearing from his old best friend's lips what had been one of his fears. There was no words really to describe it apart from it felt like drowning, like a stake in his heart.
He felt empty, like he had lost everything. Again.
NOTE
So this is one of the new stories I've been thinking about. I know this chapter is very short, but it's just for an introduction to the story. What do you think?
P.S. I'm not very good at writing angst -I'm sorry- so don't worry it won't be too sad 😅
Stay safe 💜
