Chapter 4

The next day you have your usual classes, nothing really exciting happens except that in one of them, you are finally able to cast a spell successfully and by yourself without any problems, which makes you proud.
Also today you have no classes with Mr. Darko, so you decide to head to the library to study, since you still have a lot of homework and tests coming up. You're in there for quite a while but when you leave it's already dinner time.
You're really hungry so you head to the dining room to eat something. When you enter a big hall, you see many other students eating or talking, most of them seem to know each other. You are about to sit wherever is available but you are approached by a girl who asks if you would like to join her and some others at their table.
You reply in surprise "Eehhh. Sure"
The girl, who approached you, seems to be in your year. You notice that she is really pretty, she has medium brown hair and big green eyes.
"Why is everyone so pretty in this school?"  you think, but you get over it really fast and join her.
Once seated, she begins to talk to you. "So, do you want to join our club?"
"Which club?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.
She seems happy with your answer (maybe she thinks you're already interested in joining) and begins to explain.
"We are the secret club of demonologic. You know, in our school practicing it is not aloud, but nothing is prohibited if no one sees. You are attending the dark magic courses, so you should be quite familiar with it, right?"
You nod, not really understanding where she is going with this and from where did she got all the information about you.
The girl smiles "So, you're going to join us? I'm so glad! Let's meet tomorrow at 8 in the evening in the old graveyard behind the school"
It seems like she's already decided everything for you, so you have nothing to do, but to trust that she knows what she's doing and accept her invitation. «Hah, it must be quite interesting» you think.
After the dinner, you go back to your room.  You have some problems going to sleep, because there are so many thoughts in your head, but you manage to sleep at least for 5 hours.
The next day starts. You attend some classes (honestly, the poison theory and history of the school both were extremely boring) and then you have a lesson with Mr. Darko, so you go to the dark magic class with some apprehension.
To your surprise, you are called up in front of the class and Mr Darko, smiling, looks at you from behind his desk.
Mr. Darko: "So, tell us, little Ari, what is the most important thing in dark magic?"
The question doesn't have any sense. There are so many things that are important, but he asks only about one! The correct answer doesn't exist. It seems like Darko's just teasing you.
You think for a moment and then you answer "Intelligence"
Some students laugh – the ones who don't correspond to this requirement – while others agree, but Mr Darko is staring at you silently. He seems very serious. "I'm impressed" he says with a smirk.
After he begins to call on people asking them different questions. You are wondering why he called on you when you realize that he wanted to test you. But why? What is it that he wanted to discover about you?
You go back to your place, feeling a little bit proud of yourself for answering correctly. At least, it seemed like you've answered correctly.
After the class, the black-haired girl, who you were sitting with yesterday, approaches you.
"Hey, I'm Yvette, nice to meet you"
She looks friendly, but you feel something odd about her. She seems a little bit like an attention whore, always wanting people to like her.
You don't have any time to answer, because suddenly Mr. Darko approaches you and says to Yvette "You're new as well, right? Can you stay for a moment, so we can talk?"
Yvette looks strangely happy about this, as if she was waiting for this moment to come, and leaves with Mr. Darko. You are left alone again.
You wonder what they could talk about. Unbidden thoughts arise in your head. "I'm sure he's going to flirt with her, but that shouldn't bother me" but somehow it does...
