Author's Pov:

It has been over a week that the king and his men left for battle. The royal members recently received a piece of bad news and good news from the knights. The positive message is that the soldiers succeeded to take possession of the Gimhae's clan territory. On the other hand, the negative result is that king Kim Taejo is horribly injured.

The two royal princes and the princess are worried about their beloved father who has raised them single hand after their mother's death. The two youngest children never got a chance to meet their beautiful mother, she left this world while giving birth to her youngest son Kim Taehyung. The princess was only 13 months at that time, and the eldest son had no idea of what was happening he was an innocent kid.

While waiting in the palace, all the royal staff could only wish for the king's health. He was a man of honor and respect. He only did the best for his people even in the time they are living in. In the XIV century, he made sure no innocent would get punished or get abused. His people loved him for who he was and were proud to say that the king's heir was going to continue his legacy.

Kim Taehyung's Pov:

Lost in my thoughts about my father, I did not realize the royal servant's screams who couldn't believe what they were seeing. I could see the injured knight and soldiers standing outside the palace's giant doors from where I was standing. Suddenly a group of four wordsmen came with a bloodied body in their hands. I watched as the commander followed them with his head lowered down. Breathing heavily, I move forward examining the corpse.

I tried not to breakdown in front of the people as I looked at it carefully. It was indeed my father who had been stabbed by an arrow in his heart. As I turn to look at my siblings, they were having a worst time than me. Kim Yun-Yeong was on the floor with my father's head in her lap caressing his cold cheek. Kim Chung-Lee, my brother was sweating excessively as he couldn't breathe properly seeing the loss of our father as well.

"How did this happen." I asked with a broken voice while looking in the commander's eyes who was avoiding the contact.

"My prince, the king was trying to attack the enemy but got hit." He replies with a shaky voice and with tears in his eyes.

"Weren't you suppose to protect him! Wasn't this your task!" My brother yells at him with rage in his eyes. He steps forward and grabs the commander's collar attempting to punch him.

"Stop! It is not our job to punish him let the magistrate take the decision." I yelled at him by pulling his cloak. He regains his mind and comes standing next to me.

As I cleared my throat to sound more confident than I looked I say, "My commander, I know that you were by my father's side since the beginning. I am sorry, the rules of the kingdom apply to every citizen." I look at him with regretful eyes.

"I understand my prince, this was certainly my mistake and I accept any punishment given to me by the law." He says hurtfully however with pride in his heart as he completed his duty of serving the king till his last heartbeats.

"Take him to the dungeon at the end of the castle." Says one constable aloud.

"The day after tomorrow we will hold the coronation of Kim Taehyung and Kim Chung-Lee, we can not afford to spend a day without a leader in this kingdom." Announces the same guy from before.

"But what about our father." My sister interrupts the discussion with a small mumble.

"The respected king, Kim Taejo's funeral will be tomorrow. Spread this information all around the kingdom." The anchorite mentions as he enters the throne room.
