Cap and Peter stood on either side of me as they led me out to the car. When we got to the car Cap started asking Peter questions about what had happened while I sat there in silence, thinking about what had just happened.

"Are you sure it was Loki?" he asked Peter.

"Pretty sure. I don't know who else would be able to disappear like that," Peter said. "Or dress like that, for that matter."

After repeating different variants of the same question a few times, Cap called Mr. Stark. He sounded even more concerned, asking repeatedly to make sure Peter and I were okay, hadn't gotten hurt, and so on. When we got back to the mansion everyone was waiting outside for us and all but carried me and Peter inside. Black Widow, or as she quickly assured me it was okay to call her Natasha, took me up to the room I was staying in. She sat with me on my bed and asked me personally what I had seen.

"I understand it's hard for you to talk, but if I ask yes or no questions can you help me out?" she asked me.

I nodded and pulled my knees to my chest. I wasn't even sure of what I had seen.

"Peter said Loki was coming towards you, is that right?"

I nodded.

"And disappeared as soon as Peter walked in?"

I nodded again.

"Can you tell me how he got into the room? Where did he come from?" she asked.

"Um, I was standing looking at games, and uh.. he just kind of appeared.." I said.

"Like magic?" She asked.

I nodded again.

"So, he just appeared that once and started coming towards you? Then went away when Peter came in?"

"Yes... Well, no... Um, he appeared before that. He was standing in the corner, just watching me. I don't know for how long before I looked at him." I said. "But as soon as I looked, he smiled in the most cunning way I had ever seen. Like he knew exactly what he was doing... Then disappeared a second later. Then he came back, and that happened with Peter.."

She nodded and stood up. "You're gonna be okay, kid. Just stay here with Peter, okay?"

I nodded and laid back on the bed. This has been a crazy day, and I get the feeling it won't get calmer any time soon. I went back down to where everyone was talking about what they were going to do.

"Are they being sent back home?" I heard Bruce Banner ask.

"No, I don't think that's safe," Cap said.

"They need to stay here. Especially Nikki, if that's who he's after. We have more security measures, even with no one else here," Mr. Stark added.

"The girl's terrified," Natasha said. "I think she needs to be here, and Peter needs to stay with her."

I turned and walked back to my room and sat on the bed, looking out at the balcony. Peter walked in and sat beside me.

"They're going out tonight to try to find Loki. They at least want to find out what he's up to."

"Yeah, I heard," I said. "You staying here with me?"

Peter nodded. "I think it'll be a good time to get some training in, anyway."

I laid my head on his shoulder. "Why me?" I whispered.

"I don't know," Peter said. "But me and the others will protect you. I promise."

Mr. Stark came to the room and stood in front of us. "We're going to find Loki. You two stay here and stay inside until we get back. Peter, you have my number if anything goes wrong."

We both nodded.

"Just try to stay calm, alright? You have the whole place to yourself, have some fun. But not too much fun, there's a reason you have separate rooms, you know," He said.

Peter and I overdramatically gagged, then laughed.

"You have nothing to worry about, trust me," Peter said.

Mr. Stark laughed and went back with the others, and we heard them all leave. He has more of a fun personality than you would expect, especially when it comes to Peter.

I sighed. "I think I wanna take a nap. I didn't get much sleep last night."

Peter smiled and stood up to leave.

"Get some shuteye and try to relax. I know you're probably the most anxious you've been in your life, which is saying something for you," He said.

"You have no idea," I said. "Don't worry about me though, I'll be okay."

"Okay," he said, "Just let me know if you need anything. I'll be in the training room."

He left, and I opened my duffle bag to get my cow plushie out. I laid her on the bed and then took my shoes and flannel shirt off, laying down in just my tank top and jeans. I snuggled into the covers and drifted off to sleep, replaying that day's events in my head and holding my plushie close to me.

When I woke up, it was dark outside. I stretched my legs and sat up in the bed. It's cold in here... I shivered and rubbed my arms, trying to warm up a little. I leaned over in bed looking across the hall. Peter must still be training, I don't see him in his room. That's when I noticed my plushie was nowhere to be found. I looked through the sheets and beside the bed, then I noticed she was laying on the balcony. How did I manage that? Unless I kicked the poor thing across the room... I went to grab her, but as I leaned over to pick her up, another hand grabbed her. I felt my blood run cold as I stayed frozen in place. Then I saw the boots in front of me walking toward me, backing me into the corner of the balcony. I felt my back press against the cold railing as I looked at my plushie in his hands.

"Who knew it would be so easy to lure you to me? With just a silly stuffed toy."

That voice sent a chill down my spine.

"There's no Spiderman to save you now, is there?"

He grabbed my arm and pulled me to him. Then in a flash of light, I was no longer at the mansion. And I was scared to death to open my eyes.
