A few days have passed and I figured out that the place I am in is called Vibius Village.
It is near Forest Della Morte, which means "Forest of Death" because there are a lot of beasts living there, and whenever someone goes in they don't come out.
I am living in a motel near the forest. Not many people come to the motel, but it is super cheap and is of very good quality.
Right now I have 2 gold bars, 10 gold coins, 15 silver coins, 20 copper coins, and 25 brass coins. In total I have about $31,725 (US dollars). This is enough to last me 20 years here (not including the child). But, with the child I have enough for 12 years.
Based on Evolet’s past memories, it will be 10 years before the Duke comes to kill her. That means I have 10 full years to take care of this child. I don’t really care if I die as long as I am able to protect and raise this child well.
-------------Right now I am at the market buying some groceries and baby supplies. It is about 11:00 am and it is very bright outside. The climate in this village is more on the colder side so right now it is very nice to have such warm weather.
I start walking through the shops and find a clothing store. I enter and immediately start looking for baby clothes.
“Excuse Me Miss, how may I help you?” A cute old lady said to me. She was short and plump but people could tell she grew happy with smile wrinkles all over her face.
“Ah yes greetings Ma’am. I was wondering where I can get clothing for babies.” I answer with a smile.
The old lady beams as she looks at my tummy and realizes what I meant.
“Of course! Follow me I’ll show you.” She says while waving at me to come.
She takes me to the back of the store and shows me the clothes. She then asks, “If you don’t mind me asking where is the father?”
Before I came here my anxiety got to me and I started making all these questions in my head. So luckly I already have an answer for such questions. I thank my worrywart side for that.
“Well he left me when I told him I was pregnant. So, I came here by myself.” I answer with a sad smile.
“Oh dear! That man deserves a good beating from his mother. How dare he abandon you with a baby by yourself!” She starts fuming as she keeps ranting about what a bad man he is. I stay there smiling at her for how she curses the man and a slight twinge of guilt inflicts me knowing I was lying to her. Dang it this is why I don't like lying.
“It’s okay Ma'am I have enough to take care of the baby and I” I say to make her stop her angry ranting.
She looks at me with sympathy and says, “If you ever need help dear, come to me and I will help, okay?”
“Yes I will come straight to you Ma’am” I say while chuckling at how adorable the lady was.
“Oh please just call me Caroline Wels dear” she says
“Yes Mrs. Wels. Please call me Evolet Usoro.” I changed my last name to my past self's last name to not raise any suspicions.
She smiles at what I call her and starts to show me all the baby clothes. She also sells some baby supplies so I take some as well. I stayed there for about 3 hours just talking to her as she told me stories about her family, instructing me on how to take care of a baby, and also complimenting me for how beautiful and strong I was. Although when she complimented me I awkwardly squirmed in my seat not knowing how to respond. Ha ha the perks of being an awkward introvert.
It was 2:00pm when I left the store and started to go back home. I felt stares all over me since it was rare for new people to come by. Especially when they stand out with silver hair and a bump on their belly. I reach the destination and put all the bags inside as I go to the bed and flop down.
I start to remember how all this started and silent tears started to go down my face as my breathing went ragged. But as soon as the tears came, I wiped them and I started to control my breathing, ignoring the thoughts going inside my head.
‘I have to stay strong for the baby’ I mutter to myself, pushing all my sadness down.
I get up from the bed and start unpacking all the bags, putting them where they go.
Then I go to the mirror and look at myself.
Man I am really pretty. How can a human still look like this while being 26 weeks pregnant.
I then remember the stares people gave me while I was on the streets.
I need to buy some brown hair dye to cover this attention seeking hair but there is none in this world. Dang this sucks. Then I start to feel someone kicking. I automatically rub my belly as I look down.
“Hello baby, you really like to kick don't ya.” I say in a slight accent.
Then I started singing the song my mom used to sing when I was little “What A Wonderful World” by Liam Armstrong.I see trees of green,
Red roses too.
I see them bloom
For me and you.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful worldI see skies so blue
And clouds so white.
The bright blessed day,
The dark sacred night.
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world. The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces of the people going by.I see friends shaking hands,
Saying how you do.
They’re all saying
I love you
I hear babies crying,
I watch them grow .
They’ll learn much more,
Than I’ll ever know.An I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.
What a wonderful world.I finish the song and change into nightwear even though it is like 5:00 pm. I go to my bed with a huge yawn and cover myself as I let sleep consume me giving me.
