It's been two months since I had sat with Beau at the game. I haven't really talked to him since he had so many away games, that he didn't even play in. He's gone back to the game now, and he hasn't been playing very well, so he's been a healthy scratch for two games. He's called me, upset, as we are just friends, and I've always been there to listen to his problems. I've started going back to school, in Pittsburgh and even joined a club team.
We had a game today, before the hawks vs pens game. Therefore, Beau was in Chicago, and not here to see my game. I sighed as I pushed play on the locker room music. "Bleed it Out" by Linkin Park came one, and the rest of the players on my team started filing into the locker room. I went out to stretch and my teammate, Ginny, was there waiting to talk to me. She pointed out someone with a hood on, in the stands. I looked and saw him. It was definitely a guy, as you could tell from his broad shoulders.
I just shrugged and did my warm ups, before going back into the locker room, to get dressed. I got my lower equipment on and went back out to tape my stick. The guy was still there. I just finished quickly, and went back in to put on my upper gear. I was completely dressed, and so was everyone else, so the coaches came in to talk to us. They gave us the pre-game speech and then we all got ready to hit the ice. We started walking out, and waited for the buzzer to go, to let us on the ice.
Meeeerrrrr. There it was. I started running, and hopped on the ice, skating laps. As the warm-up track played, we did the different starting drills, and eventually, we were ready to start. They played the national anthem, and then I got in position for the puck to drop. Yea, I was a starter and assistant captain. I played right wing, and just for Beau, I asked for number nineteen. The game started and right off the bat, we scored one. I didn't get the goal, but I got an assist. In all the commotion, I swear I could hear Beau yelling.
I looked at the stands and still only saw the guy in the hood. When I looked closely, I saw Beau's face. I must have been imagining things. He's suppose to be in Chicago. I just blinked my eyes a few times, and focused on the game. The first period went by, then the second, the third, they ended up tying it, so we went to OT. Nobody scored in OT so we went to a shootout. Ginny went second to shoot. Score. They scored again. Our next person went and scored. Then their person missed. I was next. If I scored, we would win.
I dedicated my next shot to Beau. Again, I heard his voice call my name. I ignored it again, focusing on how to shoot. I skated around the puck once, and then skated with it. I sped up, faking a left, pulling back, and then lifting it over the keeper's head. It was one of those slow light shots, that slowly fell behind the keeper. She turned around, but was to late. The puck was over the line. I did a fist pump and my team came to hug me and our keeper.
We went back into the locker room, and got undressed. The girl who is usually out first, came back in, and said, "Em, there's a guy out here waiting for you" I nodded in understanding, and quickly got dressed. I smelled disgusting, but I just went out anyway. I saw the guy with the hood, standing there, leaning against the boards. I raised an eyebrow and he turned towards me. I saw Beau's face again. I mumbled, "Beau?" He pulled off his hood, and I was greeted with those beautiful blue eyes, the cheeky smile, and the gorgeous blonde hair.
I dropped my bag, and ran towards him. He opened his arms for me and I jumped into them, and hugged him back. He whispered, "You stink" I playfully punched his arm, and he just laughed. Then I asked, "What are you doing here?" He smiled and said, "Taking you with me to Chicago. C'mon!" I laughed and lugged my bag to my car. He told me to just leave my car here, and take my purse and phone. I quickly grabbed them, and climbed into his car.
I looked in the back and saw one of my duffelbags in the the back seat. I looked at him and said, "So my parents know about this?" He nodded and said, "Yea, I just had to remind them that Flower would be there too" I laughed and we drove to the airport. We filed into the private plane, where Marc was already there waiting for us. Him and Beau started playing CoD and I watched Beau's PSP, as they sniped each other down. It was hilarious to watch, and the whole time, they talked about how bad Sid was at it.
