Part 4 nightmare

*LATER THAT NIGHT*

You and the rest of the avengers were all sat downstairs watching TV. You  glance over at Bucky to see him looking at you but he quickly redirects his eyes when you look.

'it's getting late I'm heading off to bed' you say, everyone says goodnight and you head upstairs. You hadn't done much today but you were emotionally drained and couldn't wait to  get into bed. Once you'd brushed your teeth and got changed you threw yourself onto your mattress and were asleep within minutes.

It was about 3am when you woke up to the sound of screaming. You hopped out of bed and opened your door to try to find out who it was. It was coming from Bucky's room. You knocked on his door but he didn't answer. You opened the door to see him sat on the floor against the wall, he was sweating and shaking slightly.

'Bucky?' he looked up at you with tears in his eyes 'are you ok? what happened?' he didn't say anything, just looked down at his hands. You walked towards him slowly and sat down on the floor next to him. 'You want to talk about it?' you asked. He just shook his head lightly, still shaking. 'Okay...that's fine'

You sat with him in silence for a few minutes before he looked at you and said 'why are you being so nice to me after what I- what I did?' 

'I've already told you Bucky, I don't blame you for what happened to my dad. It wasn't your fault'. You could tell he felt really bad and blamed himself, you couldn't help but feel sorry for him. You pulled into a hug as you heard him crying quietly.

'Y/n?'

'yeah?'

'sorry for waking you'

'don't be sorry...I was awake anyway' you were lying but you didn't want him to feel worse than he already did.

'it's just the nightmares and bad memories, they always come at night'. As he said this more tears streamed down his face.

'hey it's ok, I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere' you said quietly. You sat with him for about half an hour before you both fell asleep on the floor together.

You woke up to Tony's voice blaring through the comms system in the building

'EVERYBODY IN THE KITCHEN NOW...I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU ALL'

You look around and see Bucky wasn't next to you anymore. As you stood up you saw him coming out of his bathroom wearing a t shirt that showed his metal arm. You wanted to ask about it but decided not to just in case it triggers something.

'sorry did I wake you?'

'no, it's pretty hard to sleep through Tony's shouting' you both laugh. 'I'm going to head down to see what he's so excited about, I'll see you down there ok?'

'yeah...and y/n..'

'yeah?'

'thank you for staying with me last night' he smiled at you

'not a problem' you said smiling as you left his room. You bumped into Nat on your way down.

'sooooo?' she smirked at you.

'oh my gosh Nat what now?'

'any advancements with Bucky?'

'Nat seriously?'

'well sorry but I'm sure you can understand my suspicions after seeing you leaving his room this morning'

'oh shush, he had a nightmare so I went in to see if he was ok. That's all'

'hmm if you say so' she giggled as she walked into the kitchen.

You rolled your eyes and went to make yourself a coffee. After about 10 minutes everyone was gathered in the kitchen.

'so Tony... what's this big surprise you have in store?'

'well, seeing as we have a new addition to our team, I think it's a good excuse to have...A PARTY!'

'Tony that's no surprise' you turn around to see Clint walking in, 'hey guys, thought I'd come say hi see what's new'

'Katniss Everdeen has arrived!' you announced as everyone lets out a laugh.

'anyway back to the party' Tony chirped in 'tonight at 8, don't be late'. You heard a few groans around the room as everyone dispersed to get on with their daily activities.

'I'm heading down to the training room if anyone fancies joining me to get their ass whooped?' you ask.

'I'll join you Lady y/l/n' Thor replied

'yeah why not' Steve said 'Bucky, you coming?' he asked. Bucky looks at Steve then looks at you before saying

'yeah ok'

You look at the three men, 'a triple ass whooping? sounds like fun. I'll meet you guys down there I just need to get changed' you said as you headed up to your room.
