PROLOGUE
"Hmm... Wonder what this giant incisor is doing here? So sparkly white... Whoever owned it did a remarkable job on their flossing!" Jack smirked as he leaned against the base of the tall structure that held the tiniest of baby teeth, just waiting for-
"Where?? Where is it?!?!"
Yep. There she was.
"Where is the- Jack! I should've known!" Toothiana, also known as the Tooth Fairy, or Tooth for short, dropped onto small feet, her wings stilling behind her and the bright feathers on her head twitching as she pretended to scowl at the fellow Guardian. Jack was just up to his normal tricks- and since he wasn't grounded to a single place, like North's workshop or Bunny's warren, he often stopped by to goof off when he wasn't busy giving children another snowday.
"Yep, you should have. Buuuuuuuttt you didn't." He straightened up, smirking, and tried to kindly ignore the small crowd of fairies that gathered as he revealed his teeth, which had become somewhat- okay, quite famous in the area.
Tooth rolled her eyes. "Sometimes I swear, Manny had his head in the clouds when he chose you."
Jack huffed and put a hand on his chest. "Ah! I-I can't believe you just... I can't even... That hurts, Tooth. And all this time I thought we were friends!" He sniffled and turned away, slumping against his staff.
Tooth slumped her shoulders incredulously. "Of course we are!"
Jack spun around, his blue eyes wide and his face lifted in a grin. "Really?!" he cried excitedly. "YES!!! I HAVE A FRIEND!!!" He ran at Tooth and grabbed her in a hug, spinning her in a fast circle that eventually carried them off the ground for a moment.
Tooth laughed. "Alright, we're friends again. Now what is it? I do run a tight schedule, Jack." She shot him a firm glance, though she couldn't help but smile.
Jack gave her a dismissive wave. "You and your schedules!" he cried in exasperation. "I swear, I'm the only Guardian who knows how to have any fun!" He dropped to the ground, sitting crosslegged on the grass and coating every inch of ground around him in a sparkling layer of frost.
"Anyway, I came to ask you what you know about someone named Heartbreak."
