Lost In the saddle

Chapter 3

As I woke up for class I saw that Maggie was gone. We're was she? I got dressed quickly and headed down to the cafeteria for breakfast. It was vacant. I check my watched. It was 8:30! Class starts at 7:00. I hurried to my third period. I had missed my other classes.
Uh oh. When I got there the class had already started.

"Sorry that I'm late. I slept in..." I said hoping he wouldn't get mad. Mr.Z was usually very friendly.

"Okay, okay. But one more late pass and detention on Monday. Just sit down quickly and try to pick up what we are learning." Said Mr.Z trying to get back to his work. Mr.Z is my social studies teacher. I'm pretty good at social studies. Along with math and science.

After class I met up with Maggie and Carder to begin training for the show. I set up a 2'6 vertical and then 0'18 inch cross rail. I began to pick up speed. The momentum of his giant strides pulling my body forward and then back. As I approach the the vertical I leaned forward just a little to make it easier for me to go into jumping position. I felt his weight shift backwards. I leaned all the way in position archer my back in and was in mid air over the jump. When I landed I leaned back so I didn't fall forward. After the vertical Bay Berry did a sharp turn and approach the cross rail. Bay Berry was a little to fast but I slowed him down. I leaned forward only a little because it was a small jump. I complete the course no problem. Maggie did it too.

Carder rides western so he doesn't jump. He will be doing clover leaf barrels and straight dash. Teddy was really fast. A little feisty to because he's a gelding. Carder began to back up. We had one barrel at the end of the ring and you have to canter up to it, turn around it and then gallop as fast as you can back to get the fastest record. Maggie started the stop watch and yelled go. Teddy stared to canter really fast. Carder wasn't ready and go left behind. He caught up to him and almost reached the barrel. He came in wide and turned close to the barrel and galloped back as fast as he could.

*click* "18 seconds! 18 seconds! That's a new school record!" Screamed Maggie in excitement. It was amazing.

After a few more rounds of teddy and Carder cantering back and forth around the barrels, I decided I wanted to try it. I don't own a western saddle so I just did it bareback. I backed Bay Berry up and we were off. I felt the wind in my hair. I lend forward telling Bay Berry to go faster. I was to worried I was going to fall off so, I wasn't steering. Instead, I was holding on to his mane. Bay Berry turned the barrel how he was suppose to though. I guess he saw Teddy do it. After turning he barrel we had to gallop down as fast as we could. I felt so free I just let go and put my hands out as if nothing in the world was stopping me. My hair flowing behind me like a flock of birds. I wasn't paying any attention and Bay Berry stopped short. I fell forward. The fun was over. I didn't cry or anything I just laughed as Carder and Maggie picked me up. Bay Berry was okay too. It was just to fun I couldn't be sad now. We were ready for the show.

After we were done riding we went back to the academy we untacked and turned them out.

"Anyone want to go to the movies?" Asked Maggie.

"Sure!" Me and Carder said at the same time. We are going to watch Mocking Jay.

When we got their we bought the tickets, candy, and popcorn. I sat down between Carder and Maggie. The movie was starting. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the movie. I had a lot of popcorn! As I was walking I bumped into someone. I looked up and saw a boy with a leather jacket and black slicked back hair. His name was Jason. He had bright blue eyes and he was gorgeous. I blushed in embarrassment.

"You need some help?" Said Jason.

"Uh, um, yea. Where's theater 11?" I said. I actually knew where it was, I just wanted him to walk me there.

When we got there he kissed my hand and said goodbye. I saw Carders face fill with anger and jealousy. I was confused but just sat down and continued watching. It was probably just his obsession of Jennifer Lawrence. Haha.
