It was a regular Monday. Clay got up, got ready, ate breakfast in a hurry, got in his mom's car, and left for school. He never seemed to care that he didn't have a license, or that his mom used to drive him to school every day. Unlike other teenagers, he seemed to enjoy it. He never felt like he even wanted to learn how to drive.

(Clay pov)

I walked into school noticing all pairs of eyes on me. I went to the same school every day since I was a child, yet every day, it felt like everybody was staring at me. I didn't know if they were actually looking at me or if it was my anxiety making me assume things.

I walked into my homeroom to see my best friend, Nick. As usual, he came in early and saved me a seat. Nick has been the only friend I've had since I was twelve. Not that I wanted any friends anyways.

I walked over to Nick "Hey dude, what's up?" Nick said.

"Nothing really," Clay said while shrugging.

I sat down beside Nick and felt someone tap on my shoulder. "I'm really not in the mood to talk to people right now," I thought, but just for the sake of common courtesy, I decided to turn towards the person tapping on my shoulder. It was none other than Bad, short for BadBoyHalo. I don't know where that nickname came from, neither did I know what his actual name was. All I knew is that he was nothing like his nickname. He was this annoying guy, who would never swear, and if he heard someone else swearing, he would scream "language!" He really pissed me off. He has been trying to talk to me and Nick for a while now. I don't understand why. "Why would this person, with a cheerful personality, want to even be my friend?" I thought. Well, it didn't matter because I didn't wanna be friends with him. "Hey, I'm Bad, you must be Clay! I've heard a lot about you" Bad said cheerfully, I ignored him and turned back to face Nick. I'm aware that I was pretty rude but I didn't really care. I didn't need to be nice.

"Good Morning students. How's your day been?" Ms. Anderson said, walking into class.

I and Nick hated Ms. Anderson, not that we liked any teacher, but we hated her the most. She would always be after us. If she could, she would've given me detention for life, maybe even gotten me suspended, but I had good grades, which is why she couldn't do anything. Nick, on the other hand, failed almost every single class of his, giving Ms. Anderson the power to give him detention over every small reason she could find. That poor guy spent most of his days in detention for some reason or another.

She gave her usual boring speeches and then the bell rang. "God Bless that bell" Nick mumbled.

And just like that, we left for class.

I walked into the Cafeteria but couldn't spot Nick. "Hmm, that's weird," I thought but shrugged it off.

Ten minutes into lunch, Nick showed up. "Hey, dude, what happened, what took you so long?" I asked.

"Ms. Anderson called me to her office, apparently she heard me say "God bless the bell". She yelled at me for a while, and when I talked back she gave me detention" Nick answered.

"I expected nothing else from her," I said, chuckling.

"Oh dude, by the way, have you heard about the student exchange program?" Nick questioned.

"Yea, why?" I asked, raising my right brow.

"I thought it's cool, I've never had a sibling, I would definitely enjoy having someone from a different country live with me, but my parents are definitely not going to let me do that" Nick said.

"For me, it's the complete opposite. I really don't want some random ass stranger in my house, going through my personal stuff. But you know how my mom is, she thinks it's a good idea. She thinks it'd be good for me if I make more friends, and she definitely doesn't like you"

"Why doesn't she like me?" Nick asked.

"I really don't know," I genuinely answered. I always assume my parents didn't like Nick because of his grades. They probably thought he was a bad influence.

"I just hope my mom doesn't actually sign me up for the program. I'll literally run away from home." I said, chuckling.

We continued our conversation for a while, then left for our classes as the bell rang.

time skip to dispersal

I waited for Nick outside school, forgetting that he was held up in detention. My mom had already reached before Nick came. I looked in the car to see a brunette boy, roughly my age, sitting in the front seat. "Oh no," I thought. "She didn't actually sign me up for the program, did she?" I opened the backseat, with a confused look. "Hey honey, how was school?" My mom asked, enthusiastically. Without letting me answer, she continued "This is George, he will be living with us for a while. You guys will have so much fun.". The boy lightly smiled, looking at me. I rolled my eyes and got in the car without saying anything.
