George's pov)
My first day at school went surprisingly well. I don't know why I was worrying so much. I mean I am a regular brunette guy, there's nothing about me that would catch other people's attention. Nobody even noticed that I was new. My classes went pretty smoothly, I liked all my teachers as well. I walked into the library for lunch. I wasn't really in the mood to eat in a large crowd right now. I sat across this guy, he was wearing a black button-up shirt and a beanie that said 'L A F D' on it. He looked close to my height. I noticed him looking at me and gave him a quick smile. He returned the gesture, then turned back to his laptop and continued working. It was fifteen minutes into lunch when he slammed his laptop shut and decided to speak up.
"Hey, what's up man?"
"hi, nothing, just eating alone in the library cause i hate human interaction" The guy laughed at my joke.
"Oh dude, by the way, I can't help but notice your accent, are you an exchange student?"
"Yeah, I'm from London, I'm staying here for this semester"
"Cool, me too, I'm from Mexico. So, who's your host?"
"I actually don't know, I haven't met them yet. I'm supposed to pick my stuff from the school office and I was given the phone number of the person who's supposed to pick me up from school. Anyways, have you met yours yet?"
"Yeah actually, my host actually came up to me. Pretty cool guy" I was going to reply but the bell rang.
"Oh well, that's my cue," He said.
"Oh dude, wait for a second, I didn't catch your name"
"Oh I'm Alex short for Alexis"
"Nice to meet you, Alex, I'm George".
Time skip to dispersal
I headed to the school office for my stuff. This is when I started getting anxious. Who's my host? How's the family going to be? They won't think of me as a burden, right? RIGHT?! I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a calm voice ask "hi, how can I help you?"
"Oh I'm an exchange student, I'm here to pick my stuff up"
"Oh yes, what would be your name and roll number?"
"George Henry Davidson ####"
"Ah your host is Clay, well, I'll be right back"
"Clay, hmm" I mumbled
(an: I know nothing about how exchange students get their stuff, cut me some slack please lmao)
I picked up all my stuff and decided to text the number I was given, who was one of the host's parents I suppose.
Unknown

I was given your no.

Oh hello George!
Im outside the school
My car no. is ####
Its a red ford
Ok ill be right there
I started walking towards the entrance of the school when I spotted the car. I squeezed my hand into a fist, knuckles becoming white, I was more anxious than ever. I reached the entrance, I peaked in the car to see a middle-aged woman, "must be Clay's mom" I thought, opening the back seat door of the car. "Hi George, I'm Clay's mother, you can call me Mrs. Johnson, nice to meet you!" she said, enthusiastically.
"Hi! Nice to meet you too, I said, sliding in the back seat.
"George, come sit in the front, I'm sure Clay wouldn't mind" I listened to her, not wanting to protest. I started glancing out the window, I saw a tall guy, he had dirty blonde hair and he was very VERY tall. He was wearing a green hoodie, I think. I wouldn't know, since I'm colourblind.
"So, have you met clay yet?" she asked.
I looked at her, forgetting about the guy, "No, not yet, I'm looking forward to it though". That's when I heard someone open the back door.
"Hey honey, how was school?" Mrs. Johnson said. "This is George, he will be living with us for a while. You guys will have so much fun." I smiled, glancing towards Clay, expecting him to return the gesture, but instead, he rolled his eyes at me while getting in the car. Wow, rude
Mrs. Johnson noticed him roll his eyes, and gave him a death stare, using the rear-view mirror. I covered my mouth, looking down, to hide my laugh.
After a while Mrs. Johnson spoke up, "So, how was your first day at school George?"
"It was good, I like my teachers as well," I replied.
I noticed clay scoff. "What?" I asked.
"What are you, a kiss ass?" Clay said, rolling his eyes.
"Hey! Mind your language and don't be rude" Mrs. Johnson said.
"How does me liking my teachers make me a 'kiss ass'?" I asked.
"I've been in this school since middle school and I've never met a good teacher" Clay replied.
His attitude really pissed me off. I could tell, he was definitely the popular kid.
"Well if you weren't so full of yourself you would notice how other people aren't as bad as you think", I said bitterly.
"Well well, calm down boys, let's not start fighting already," Mrs. Johnson said.
I rolled my eyes at clay and started looking out the window. We didn't talk for the rest of the car ride. These were gonna be long six months.
