"Please help us," Maya and her mom cried out, carrying the leader's blood soaked body to the hospital.
"This is an emergency," one of the trans women shouted. "She needs urgent medical attention."
A nurse came up to them and examined the wound. "This is serious. Please come this way."
"You all go," Maya's mom told the women. "I'll catch up with you later."
"Mom? What are you doing? We need to be there for her, after all that she's done for us."
"I'll stay with her. You go. Complete your second vow."
"Vow? How-how did you know about it?"
"I'm your mother. You can't hide anything from me. When you were saying your vows, your sound was coming right through the basement as the two rooms were internally connected. I knew you were going to fulfill your first vow so I didn't go with the women as you told me to. Instead, I followed you and picked up Vikram's pistol along the way. You're my daughter and its my duty to look out for you."
"Oh mom, I don't know how I'll ever be able to thank you enough. If you wouldn't have come-"
"You don't need to thank me. You need to go and do what you've been waiting for, all your life."
"But mom, its my fault the woman in there is in such a state. The least I can do is be there with her till she recovers."
"I'll be with her. She'll understand. You go."
"Are you sure you'll be fine without me?"
"Absolutely. Now go, dear. Give those devils what they deserve."
Maya let out a cry and hugged her mom tight. This was probably the last time they would ever see each other and they knew it. Maya's mom kissed her daughter, tears rolling down her eyes.
"My brave, courageous daughter. You have no idea how proud I am of you."
"And you have no idea how lucky I am to be your daughter."
"You need to go now before I change my mind."
Maya chuckled. "Goodbye mom."
She slowly turned around and walked out of the hospital.
The time had come. The final showdown was here. She was scared. How she wished Rajeev was with her right now. She felt alone, empty. But above all, she felt determined. Determined to punish her baby's killers, to show them where they belong, to show them WHO'S BOSS.
She stopped a rickshaw. "Take me to Mrityunjaya Roy's house."
"Are you sure?" the driver asked. "There's strong security outside his house nowadays. I don't think they'll let you in."
"That's none of your concern." Maya snapped. "Just do what you're told."
The driver eyed her suspiciously, then sighed and started the auto.
"I'll take double the fare."
"Take it. I don't care."
They reached the house after 25 minutes and as Maya got out of the auto and looked at it, a mixed rush of memories on her journey in the house began to haunt her mind.
Mritunjaya's abuse, Rudra's love, their pet dog's friendship, Diya's taunts, Antara's ill treatment.
Maya started shivering. "No, no I'm not ready for this. I need to go back."
She turned around but the auto had already left.
Maya was alone, standing in front of the huge mansion where her life took major transformations.
She took several deep breaths. "No Maya, you can't turn around now. You can't go back. You need to finish this, once and for all, right here right now."
Maya flipped back her hair and started walking inside the gates, feeling more confident than ever.
