"NOOO STOP IT," Manvi groans as she receives another kick on her pregnant belly.

She tries to scream, only to get another round of kicks and punches.

She hears several men roaring with laughter around her as she gasps for air and tries to get up.

"Awww baby, you really thought you could get away with everything?" Mritunjaya's face looms over her body as he grabs her hair and makes her sit up.

"I HATE YOU MRITUNJAYA I WILL KILL YOU," Maya wakes up screaming and shouting.

"Hey what's going on here?" a nurse comes running up to her bed. "Looks like our new patient just had a bad dream."

Maya blinks profusely and looks around. "Where am I? How did I get here?"

"Your caring husband brought you in here last night. Apparently you were trying to get away from him when all he wanted to do was help you."

"CARING HUSBAND?!" Maya screeched.

The nurse smacked her across her face.

"Keep quiet, you lunatic," she hissed. "This is a fucking hospital. You need to keep your voice down. I don't care if you're the great Maya Jaisingh. I will not have you breaking the rules of this mental asylum."

"MENTAL ASYLUM?!" Maya screamed, getting another smack across her face.

"Listen, you don't understand," Maya sobbed. "I am perfectly fine. I'm not supposed to be here. That man is just pretending to be my husband. I'm married to someone else."

"Oh really?" the nurse sneered. "Then who is your REAL husband?"

"That's the problem," Maya cried. "I just can't remember anything much about my life. I don't know how it happened but my memory has vanished. All I know is that some people tried to kill me that made me lose my baby and I need your help in making me reach those people so I can have my revenge."

The nurse looked at her for a minute, then suddenly burst into laughter.

"Wow that was entertaining," she mocked, slowly clapping her hands. "Well, maybe I underestimated you. That was a very fine story indeed."

"No please listen. You have to believe me," Maya sobbed.

The nurse grabbed her hair and looked at her, a fierce look in her eyes.

"You think I'm a fool, don't you?"

"No I-"

"Let me tell you something straight. Your discharge from this hospital depends on me. I'm your personal nurse and I get to decide when you're fit enough to leave this hellhole so quit playing games with me, UNDERSTAND?"

"Yes, yes ma'am," Maya whimpered.

"That's better," the nurse said, slowly releasing her hair. "You better be a good girl coz I'm watching you."

With a flick of her hair, she strode out of the room.

Maya sat there, on the bed, in shock, unable to think or feel anything.

"What happened? How did I get here? And my mom-"

Maya's hand flew to her mouth. "Where's my mom?"

Maya closed her eyes and tried to stress her mind, hoping to remember something.

A flurry of images flashed through her head.

A murder, a masquerade ball, a marriage, someone cutting her hair, a mental hospital...

She tried and tried, stressing herself more and more and before she could remember anything, she blacked out.
