It was Monday evening and I waited patiently for the girl I found on the street. She was supposed to be here 10 mintues ago yet, she hasn't even called my number on the card. I sat in my office looking at a picture of my daughter and wife. They were right upstairs anyway, I had an office in my home for personal meetings.
I got up and was about to close out for the night, but I heard a ring of the doorbell and answered.
"You're late Miss?" I asked.
"Iyanna Jones." she said sticking her hand out. I ignored and let her in. "Your house is awesome."
"Thank you, I earned it." I lead us to my office and asked her to sit, as did I.
I opened my laptop and went through some files before I focused on her.
"So Miss Jones, tell me about your past work." I said.
"Well, I recently started working at my dad's mechanic shop so I'm really good with numbers-"
"That wasn't the question." I interrupted.
"I had to go to juvie across country when I was 16 and got out at 18 so I didn't really have an oppurtunity to train for this job. I wasn't even expecting it when you stopped me two days ago."
I realized she talked more than needed, but it was what described a person's character.
"How are you with kids and could you be here during the week?" I asked.
"You mean here in your house. Kids? What is this, some type of child ring?! Do you just stop women to kidnap them or something, why is thi-"
"DADDY!" I hear.
Aubri came into my office since the door was halfway closed. She had her custom onesie on and hair every which way. She comes up to me but stares at Iyanna.
"Yes my angel?" I asked. She whispers close to my ear.
"Who is her?" she incorrectly asks.
"She is my assistant, you'll see her sometimes."
I looked to see Iyanna smiling and then gazing at the wall.
"Go upstairs and get ready for bed, you have classes tomorrow." I said. She kissed my cheek and waved to Miss Jones before leaving. "Child ring Miss Jones?"
"I am so sorry. She's beautiful, how old is she?"
"She'll be four in a few months. Back to our conversation; are you comfortable with telling me why you were in Juvenile Detention?" I asked.
I continuously looked at my screen with all her information on it. It had no record of her being in 'juvie' for how long she said. She lied. Was it for me to be uninterested in hiring her as my assistant? She'd have to try harder for that.
"I umm, I was there because I sold dr-"
"Are you lying?" I stared into her soul, nontheless.
"Yes?" she asked more than said.
"You're hired."
I got up and closed my laptop.
"Be here by 12 in the afternoon, preferrably after 11 when I get my daughter to her classes. I'll give you your first paycheck on Saturday and you'll get payed every two weeks. See you tomorrow, and please dress appopriately." I said.
