Darren Demetrio
I finally had landed in the same country my father had died in; I really never wanted to come back here because death was in the air whenever I visited. I went to baggage claim getting the eye from a few women and got my gear.
I had called for a cabbie, even though they're pitiful and disgusting, and made my way to Juliana's fathers' home. I had used the tracking software on my phone to find exactly where she was, and made the driver go there. It was a park.
I had told him to give me a few minutes as I got out the car and walked deeper into the family park. I had caught my daughter in the side of my eye playing soccer with two teenage boys and the man who was Juli's father speaking to her.
I carefully walked over there and spotted another man who looked strangely familiar, sitting nearby watching her. Then there was another Latina looking woman sitting by that man with picnic baskets and blankets.
I walked up to Juli and she just looked at me.
"Hello son, do we know you?" her father said.
"I'm Darren Demetrio, Juliana's husband. It's a pleasure to meet you sir." I said, shaking his hand.
"Oh you're the infamous husband of my daughter, its a please to meet you too. Those are my boys over there and wife with our good neighbor. Honey?!" he called. She waved as the guy eyed me again.
"Who's your neighbor?" I asked.
"Oh, Ricardo Delarossa. He's basically a son." he laughed.
"Can I talk to you?" Juli said. I nodded as she dragged me away. Aubri was no longer playing with the boys and I quickly scanned the area to see her in the arms of that man. God damn who is he?! Aubri was patting him on the face as she laughed; it infuriated me.
"What're you doing here?" she asked me.
"I came to bring you home." I answered.
"I don't need you to tell me when I'm coming home, I'm visiting my father-"
"Daddy!" Aubri yelled, running towards me. The man continued to watch on as Juli's father spoke to him. I picked her up and kissed her on her face.
"Ciao my love." I said to her.
"I missed you daddy, where were you?"
"I was at home, where were you il tesoro?" (Darling)
She shrugged and I let her down.
"Ready to go home?" I said.
"Yeah!" she jumped up and down.
"Go play with your uncles for a moment Aubriella." Juliana said. She skipped away.
"Listen Juli, some shit is going on and you need to come home and stop this nonsense. The house is safe, we're fine; but here, we're in much more danger than expected. I-"
The cabbie honked his horn and I quickly glared in his direction.
"No, I already told you about how I feel-"
"I already got this man waiting, get in the God damn car Juliana." I gritted.
"Did you just curse at me?"
"The hell I did, hurry up and we'll stop by your father's house to get your things."
"No, I already told you, you don't control me or what I choose to do." she replied. I grabbed her by both of her shoulders and made her look me in the eyes as I grasped her arms tighter.
