Stumbling to grab hold of the railing, I start walking slowly forward on to the deck near the edge. The boat wasn't moving, so that didn't help, and when I turned around, there was no one in the control room, slowly trying to find a way into the control room to see if the navigator could find some land. Getting into the control room wasn't so easy since every time I moved my body, the boat would rock sideways. I wouldn't be surprised if it took me an hour to reach the control room and another hour to figure out how the radar worked, but I eventually got it to work. I saw that there was an island about a few hundred miles north, so, taking about 10 minutes, I got the boat to steer itself to the island, thinking it was a good idea to stay in the control room just in case something went wrong. Sitting down in one of the few chairs in the room, I start thinking about what I did in the cabin and how the cuffs on my wrists melted, hoping that there were no cameras. Being a fire element is the worst because everyone fears you, and because of that, you can't use your power or else you get taken away so you're not a danger to anyone. I was lucky enough that I have an ice element so that I appear normal since having powers is kept a secret from mortals, and it won't raise any questions against my family because both my parents were elemental wielders.
Waking up to shouting does nothing except make you grumpy, but when I paid attention to where the shouting was coming from and what they were saying, I automatically had ice in my hands, more like ice flames, knowing that I could control the ice fully and it wouldn't get out of control. I crouched down and slowly walked toward the deck to see what they were doing and what they were talking about, finding someone here who was like ice.
"Dudes, are you sure this is the right boat where the ice chick is supposed to be?" guy with talons instead of nails like a normal person, so he must be a shifter.
"It's the same as the picture the big K sent to you...." They began talking in hushed whispers for a few minutes, then everything fell silent except for the roaring wind. Slowly peering out from the corner, I looked at the area below the deck and saw no one there. As I turned my head, something caught my eye: the sea was a moving get, and there were such harsh winds that I realized too late that one of those men could have been a weather element. Hearing a creak behind me, I turned around just in time for a man's fist to hit me on the side of my head, and with that, I crumpled to the ground like a sack of potatoes and faded into darkness.

"Melody, Mark, guys, wake up!" hissed a male voice, and peeking through the blindfold, I could see the flames of a campfire right in front of me and the shadows of three other people, two men and one woman, it seemed, around the fire in a circle. of the men seemed to be awake and the others are still unconscious, and he's trying to wake his friends up but is only giving me a headache, so I did the most reasonable thing a girl will do when she's tied up and is starting to get a headache. I screamed.
"Will you SHUT UP!" I scream at the infuriating boy, who quiets down when he realizes he isn't the only one awake.
"What would you do if you woke from a fight with a shifter to find your best friend's unconscious body surrounding a bloody campfire while tied to trees! This has got to be a bloody joke." He spoke, mumbling his last words.
"What?"
"Nothing, anyway, my name is Hunter James, earth element at your service," Hunter said, attempting to bow but getting nowhere, as he's tied to a tree. With a grin, he rolls his eyes and uses his powers to remove the blindfold from my eyes with one of the tree branches, rolling my eyes when I can see properly. Giving me a childish grin, he shakes his head and asks me what my name is and what element I have.
"Thanks, my name is Violetta García, but Violet is fine, and I'm an ice element," I say, freezing the ropes around me and Hunter.
"Whoa! Now that's awesome!" Hunter says this while looking down at the ice-covered ropes. Quickly giving him instructions on how to break free, we're soon both standing up, dusting off the remaining ice particles, and trying to figure out where we are. Not long after hearing a groan, Hunter and I turn our heads toward one of his friends, the female, who appears to be regaining consciousness.
"Who put this bloody rag on my head? Whoever it was, better take this ridiculous thing off me right now or else I'll chop your hanky," she said before I cut her off.
"Mel! Is that you?" I say as I rush over to remove the blindfold from her face. Melody Williams, who prefers to be referred to as Mel, has been one of my best friends since we were ten; unfortunately, she had to move back to London when we were fourteen, but we managed to contact each other last year and try to stay in touch as much as we can. She had been off the grid for a while—nearly two months. Imagine my shock when I come face-to-face with my best friend, whose face looks like a fish. I won't be surprised if I have the same expression, since neither of us expected the other to be here. Before either of us could say anything, the last member of their trio appeared to have regained consciousness and was eavesdropping because he abruptly began speaking.
"You know you guys can have your bloody reunion later and not when two people are still tied up to these dang trees," he grumbled, struggling against the ropes that tied him to his tree. Giving Mel a smile and a nod to Hunter, I step back so I'm standing in front of them but still in the middle. Closing my eyes, I concentrate on cold and frozen things and picture their essence replacing the ropes. Opening my eyes, I move my hand, so each palm is facing Mel and the boy, slightly curling my fingertips. I pull my hands back like I'm tugging something, and the ice ropes break. Ignoring the boy who's grumbling about ice getting stuck in his hair, I move toward Mel to help her up while Hunter heads toward his friend to help him. Mel suddenly tackles me, intending to hug me, but we both end up falling to the ground laughing. She straddles me. Mel begins questioning me about how everything is going, how the twins are, and how I got here. While Mel was still questioning me, I turned my head to see who the other guy was, and just in time for him to look in my direction with those midnight blue eyes, I couldn't help but think that I'd seen him somewhere. If I think about it, his voice did seem familiar, but who could it b...
"Marcus"
"Violetta"
We both whispered, still locking eyes.
Marcus Alexander Hughes was my best friend for nine years, but we lost contact a year after his father was KIA, and then he moved back to London. Looking at him after such a long time brought back feelings that I thought had been lost when he left. There were so many emotions passing through his eyes—shock, anger, relief, excitement, sadness—and finally, it settled on one emotion I just couldn't describe. It looked like Mark was about to say something but was interrupted by a booming voice that came out of nowhere.
"Welcome to the King's Island."
