The Boy with Green Eyes

SUMMER POV

My mind was rushing at the speed of light. How was she? Is she ok? What about Peyton and Evan? I feel a dizzy and fall down. My eyes start to blur and nothing seems clear. I strain and see Mason over me. He picks me up when I feel weak and too tired to move a muscle. He's always been there for me.

My eyes flicker open and I'm laying on a sofa. It was electric blue and very comfy. Mason is sitting up watching the news with my head on his lap. He looks down at me and brushes through my hair.

"Well look who's up?" He softly says. The words leave his lips very slowly and his lips moving. I curl into a somewhat kind of ball.

"How are they doing?" I ask with a little yawn.

"I don't know, the nurse is supposed to..." He says but a lady in scrubs comes up to us and says.

"Would you like to see them." She says. She must had the night shift because she has dark circles under her eyes.

We follow her into a big room. I see Nicole and rush to her aid. She is on a ventilator and has burns every where. She is sleeping peacefully but the condition she is in doesn't make it seem so.

"She broke her leg, I think it has to do with falling down the stairs." The lady says. "My name is Annie, if you have any questions let me know." And Annie walks out the door.

We hear a groan. I walk over to the other side of the room and Evan is there. He has bandages on his head and ankle. "Where is Peyton." Mason says and runs out the room to the nurse's desk.

"I'm glad you could make it." Evan says barely opening his eyes.

"What happened?" I say. Nicole was in the shower and Peyton and I were playing Black Ops 2 and I hear yell. I walk into the bathroom and she is unconscious. She is laying on the floor of the shower. Of course I have never seen her...you know...naked but I picked her up and gave her my shirt and clean pair of boxers. Then Peyton smelt smoke so we ran out of my apartment and head for the stairs. Peyton went to get Ms. Huggins next door since she is old and what not. I carried Nicole and run down the stairs. The sprinklers turn on I twist my ankle and fall down the stairs." He stops to catch his breath. "I pick her back up and push through all the burnt furniture and kick the door open. My chest was cut since I didn't have a shirt. But I never saw Peyton come."

The paramedics rush in the emergency room with two people. Mason is yelling at the lady in the front desk. He turns around and we see Peyton they are giving him CPR as well as an older woman. Must be Ms.Huggins. Mason tries to budge through but the nurses hold him back. He sobs and I come to his side and give him a big hug.

We walk in to Peyton's room. Aaron and Henry are there talking silently. They stand up and gives us hugs. I go and hug Aaron while Mason gives Henry a hug. They sit down but Henry stands up and gives me his chair. I smile and sit down next to Aaron. "Evan is okay, he is awake and has burns and cuts. Nicole is on a ventilator and has a broken leg." Mason says and the boys nod. We sit there in silence and we hear a nock on the door.

"So he needs a CT scan?" Henry asks.

"What the hell is that for?" Aaron questions.

"WE need to see his lungs make sure they look ok, since he was inside longer than the rest." The doctor says.

"Are you taking him now?" I ask.

"Yes, so if you don't mind may you guys please step out of the way." He says. "Annie come help please."

Annie and this other nurse walks in. Mason and I walk out and watch them walk away. Mason stares down the hall. "Its alright, it's just a CT Scan. I say a kiss him on the cheek. "What if he is not ok, they have been my friends since 3rd grade Summer, 3rd grade." He stands there silently. "Well all we can do is hope for the best." I say not knowing what else to say. Aaron tries to help as much as possible but nothing works. I have never seen Mason like this.
