Less Pride than Prejudice
A/N: Hey hey, quick authors note! First wanna clarify that the Potterverse and all the rights belong to Jk Rowling. :)
This is my first time writing a story, so please don't be too harsh but feel free to point out any mistakes or inconsistencies. Just dm me, I suppose, that'd really help. The story will be quite short. I'm just experimenting rn and trying to get into writing.
That's it, so nothing more to say apart from: Enjoy the story :3~~~
It's the year 1943 - prejudice and discrimination against those of 'unpure blood' were present in all strata of the crippled wizarding society. The anti-muggle beliefs started to get out of control and it is during that time that a boy grows up classed as one of the, so called, lesser people himself.
The boy is no other than Tom Marvolo Riddle who is currently in his fifth year at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Admired by students and teachers likewise, he is an idol for some of his peers and yet despised by just as many, if not more. You may ask yourself, why such a brilliant young boy is hated? Well, the answer is simply bigotry. But Tom Riddle does not like bigotry at all and believe it or not - his dislike against the pureblood supremacists was what made him the most cruel and feared Dark Lord of modern history.***
It was an upbeat Tom Marvolo Riddle that walked out of the charms classroom after another brilliant performance in class. He was the one to get the spell on his first try and yet again showed that he outclassed his peers by a wide margin. Tom's happy mood was shattered only a few moment later, as he heard and felt his Slytherin classmates approaching from behind.
The Slytherin Fifth Year turned around on his heels and threw an arrogant look at them. "Good afternoon, Mr Black... And good afternoon to your friends as well, of course."
Alphard Black was the heir to the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black and prided himself on his very vigorous view on muggles and muggleborns. The Black family dates back to the Middle Ages and according to the family tree depicted in 'Wizarding Genealogy', a book Tom found in the Hogwarts library, has not produced a single squib or dirtied their blood in any other ways."Riddle," Black replied haughtily. "Fancy seeing you here. How has your day been so far?"
"Oh, stop your games right there, Black. I don't have time for that nonsense now," said Tom, turned back around and started to walk away when Eladio Lestrange, Black's right hand stepped forward.
"Oh, Riddle, do you have a meeting with your embarrassing group of losers?" Tom stopped walking and narrowed his eyes. "Or maybe even your little girlfriend, Warren or whatever her name is." The Slytherins snickered at that and Tom was only barely able to hide his growing annoyance and anger. He took a calming breath, centering himself using Occlumency, another branch of magic he excelled at and was ready to just forget about the insults and walk away when he heard Avery whisper it.
"Mudblood, mudblood, mudblood," it echoed in his head and he felt the sudden urge to harm rising inside Tom, with a strength he hadn't felt in years. The magic in his body tingled and was ready to be unleashed at the unsuspecting victims behind him. The sound of their laughter was droned out by the whirlwind of magic inside his body.
Alphard Black widened his eyes as he felt a massive surge of magical power coming from the motionless Tom Riddle in front of them - a power so strong that his perfect pureblood mask slipped, just for the slightest of seconds and showed actual and genuine fear. Alphard had never felt something like this before in his life. The air around him started to crackle with static energy and he stumbled backwards trying to escape Riddle's demonstration of magical force.
