Chapter 8: Bedtime Story

I answer the call putting it on speaker.

"Whaddup Baby?"

I paused for a sec smiling at his words. "Nothing much baby" I replied giggling. I heard him laughing and what I assume is him smacking the desk from laughing so hard. "I-" he said still laughing. "No one has ever said anything back," he said catching his breath. I giggled "hey so why'd you call?" I said after a moment of silence. I got up and walked over to the pile of clothes on my bed and started to put them away. "Well- I um" he stuttered. "I just wanted to see how you're feeling, Um how are you?" He asked awkwardly, I forced a laugh a little and just simply replied "I'm alright" "honestly?" He said making me stop in my tracks. "Well- I uh...." I said shocked not being able to say anything. No one has ever said something like that to me before.

After a long pause, I managed to say "Honestly, a wee bit shocked" "a? A what?" He said confused. "A wee bit shocked" I repeated continuing to fold clothes "what?" He said laughing a bit "a wee bit" I said for the third time getting confused "a wee bit?" He asked still laughing. "What?" I asked how extremely confused. "What is a wee bit?" He laughed making me finally realise "ohhhhh right." I said finally understanding "a little bit," I said cracking up. "A wee bit? Where did that come from?" He chuckled, "it's Scottish" I said casually "I thought you lived in England?" He said confused once again "from Scotland moved to England because my mother wanted to get closer to her family up in England" "Well then, why are you a wee bit shocked?" He sniggered. I rolled my eyes putting a way my last piece of clothes jumping onto my bed and grabbing my phone.

"Well...." I said trailing off. "I just thought my mum would be more honest with me. We've had this issue before and I just. I didn't think it would happen again" I admitted. Waiting for his response. "Anything else?" He said once again surprising me. "I just didn't think this would happen again, I know it's a stupid thing but-" "no it's not stupid" he said cutting me off. "It's not stupid that your upset about having feelings, and especially her lying to you even if it's a little thing or a massive thing you should be upset either way" he continued. "Sorry" he said after a moment. "Why?" I asked almost whispering "Well I interrupted you and I was saying that-" "you have nothing to apologise for you said things that made me feel better and that make it easier" I said interrupting him this time. "Thank you" we both said simultaneously. We both laughed softly. We both sat in silence neither of us knowing what to say. It wasn't an awkward silence though, it was comforting and it felt safe.

"Want me to talk to you whilst you go to sleep?" He asked making me yawn at the thought of going to sleep. "Yeah, tell me a bedtime story" I said jokingly whilst I lay down not bothered to change my clothes. "Once upon a time" he started making me giggle. "There was a girl named Bavery and a boy named Worpse" he continued laughing whilst talking, "one day they went online to play a game called 'O-mong Us' because Bavery's friend invited her to play. She met Worpse and they instantly got along, soon they became amazing friends and would talk to each other as often as they could." Corpse noticed that I had fallen asleep and he said "He felt they had a special connection and they were meant to meet somehow, and the story continues." He chuckled a little. "Goodnight Avery" he said hanging up the phone and going back over to his computer.
