Staring out the window, she watches Tokyo disappear into the freeway and then to the Kanagawa Prefecture. She occasionally glances to the front of the car where her mother is constantly looking back at her before returning her gaze to the windows. She stayed quiet the whole car ride and it was starting to worry her mother. The car ride started with the feelings in the car going from anger to sadness to being absolutely nothing. As if the young girl had given up on being angry or sad.
Which she did honestly.
"Ryumi...Are you sure you want to live with your uncle and not in Tokyo with your family?" Her mother hesitantly questions her.
"I'm sure. He is the one who offered." Ryumi meets eyes with her mother through the rearview mirror. "I'm excited to help him at the store and tennis courts." She gives the older woman a small smile.
"I'm sorry your otou-san and Ryoma didn't join us today. You know they will miss you."
Ryumi scoffs, "Ryo-nii, yes. Otou-san is too busy paying attention to his only child." Her mother flinches slightly at the word 'only'. She brings her legs up onto the seat, hugging her knees to her chest and looks back out the window. "Ryo-nii won't know how to live without me around. He is just going to survive on Ponta."
The older woman laughs softly, nodding her head. "Your brother does like his Ponta. I am going to miss the two of you arguing in the morning. The house is going to be quiet without both the Echizen twins being there."
"Okaa-san~ I will be in Tokyo almost every weekend starting next week!"
"That won't be the same! I am going to have to fight your brother for some girl time."
"You have Nanako nee-chan." Ryumi mentions, thinking about how she won't be staying at the house in Tokyo and trying to find ways to stay out as long as she can. She'll just be there for the meals and to sleep before she goes back to Kanagawa for school. Will she tell her mother that? Heck to the no.
After a very long time of driving, Ryumi's mother pulls into the driveway of her brother-in-law's home. Ryumi got out quickly, with an excited expression on her face. The front door of the house bursts open, a tan male with green tinted jet black hair comes out with a huge grin on his face. Ryumi runs straight towards the male with a matching grin on her face and jumps into his arms. "Oji-san!"
The male catches her, hugging the young girl tightly and twirls the two of them around in a circle. "There's my favorite niece!"
"She is your only niece, Natsuo."
"And that is exactly why she is my favorite." He presses a kiss on Ryumi's head before putting her down on her feet and goes over to hug her mother. Who quickly hugs him back, "Thank you for driving her all the way here Rinko. I would have done it myself but I know you wanted to spend some more time before she moved here. Where is Ryoma? Or aniki?"
Ryumi answers for her mother with a frown on her face, "Otou-san had Ryo-nii stay home to play tennis."
"Ah."
Deciding to skip that conversation, the two adults and preteen start to take her bags out of the car. Natsuo leads the two females up to Ryumi's room that he had prepared for her. "It took me awhile to find that right red that didn't make your room to dark. But I think I got it right." He opens the door, showing off a decently large room with two of the walls being a dark crimson and the other three walls being a light gray. There is a bed in the middle of the room, being a full-sized mattress and two night stands on both sides. A desk with a computer set up and two bookcases to the right of the desk. And a window seat that is attached to the biggest window in the middle of the room. With a set of gray curtains on all three windows.
The sheets on the bed are a light dark gray along with the pillow cases and the comforter looks to be a dual one with one side being a dark red and the other being a dark gray.
"I love it oji-san!" Ryumi grins, dropping the bags in her hands on the floor and looks around.
He chuckles, "I'm glad you like it."
"Now help us get the rest of your things out of the car. I have to head back to Tokyo as soon as I can." Rinko says, smiling at her only daughter.
"Okay, okay." Ryumi says, following the two adults back downstairs.
It took the three of them about half an hour to bring all of her things up to Ryumi's bedroom. It took almost another half an hour for Rinko to leave her daughter with Natsuo. After she watched her mother's car disappear, she went straight to unpacking all of her things. In the evening, Natsuo had made them one of her favorite foods for dinner, which happens to be gyudon, which is a bowl of rice topped with beef and onions that have simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi, soy sauce and mirin. Topped with a soft poached egg.
Getting herself ready in the bathroom, she sends a good night text to her brother, Ryoma. Who instantly replies back with a simple night text to her.
The next morning, Ryumi drags herself out of bed with major bedhead and downstairs to see her uncle making breakfast.
"Mornin' kiddo." Natsuo looks over his shoulder.
"Morning.." She mumbles, getting a laugh from her uncle.
"I see you are still not a morning person. Oh yeah, I wanted to ask if you wanted to come check out the store after breakfast. The courts too. To give you a break from unpacking and we can play a quick game of tennis. Nothing to serious, since I know you are taking a break from training."
"Really?" Ryumi questions, waking up a little more. "Yes! Let me go get ready before breakfast!" She runs back upstairs to get ready to go out. Natsuo goes back to making breakfast happily.
She comes back downstairs after ten minutes, wearing a pair of all-black woman's tennis shorts and a black racerback tank top, carrying her all-black tennis shoes. Her black and white tennis bag hanging from her right shoulder. And a matching white cap with her twin brother. She places her bag and shoes near the door, heading back to the kitchen. Ryumi helps her uncle set the table and the two of them quickly eat, cleaning up afterwards. Excited to play tennis with each other.
"Excited to lose against me?"
"You are so on old man."
"I am not old, you brat!"
