Camilla's POV:

I stepped off the plane in Las Vegas fully prepared for a summer of fun spent with my favorite uncle Jack. After grabbing my luggage, I went to the taxi center and waited for the only cab in Vegas I would trust to take. It took him longer than expected, but he finally came to pick me up. Have I mentioned I'm a bit impatient? If not, I am. Big time. Anyhow, when I saw him, I yelled "Jack!" and jumped into his arms. He almost lost his balance, but he saved us just in time.

"Welcome back to Vegas Cami! I've missed you."

"I've missed you too. How could I not miss my favorite uncle?"

"Excuse me, I'm your only uncle?"

"So? That means you're still my favorite."

"Whatever, let's just get in the cab and finish my night."

"Alright" I reassured him. I know he feels bad he still has to work even though I just arrived, but I really don't mind. I like going with Jack on his trips because for the most part I like meeting new people. Since I'll be living with him and had no where to go, we stayed in the taxi area and waited for his next customers. The first people were two people dressed as storm troopers. Really? I mean I get Vegas is different, but storm troopers? I could tell they were already starting to get on Jack's nerves with their attempts to get in the cab.

"Imperial Droid. Drive your geonosian fighters to Planet Hollywood." The first one exclaimed, attempting to be serious but ultimately failing by laughing at the end of it. I just rolled my eyes at them.

Jack, however, was not a fan and took their fake guns from them resulting in protests and the removal of their helmets. Jack looked over and I put the passenger visor down revealing the sign that read "Nevada Law NRS 909: NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" Once that was settled, we went on our way. The "storm troopers" were mostly quiet until one of them attempted to flirt with me. I will admit, I am gifted with luscious brunette hair, spared from acne, and have curves in all the right places, but the thought of those men disgusts me. I shot him down pretty quickly with a slap in the face that would certainly leave a mark. They looked to Jack for help, but he just smirked at them and told them to quit being pervs and checking out teenagers.

The ride seemed to take forever, but we finally dropped them off at Planet Hollywood where there is apparently a UFO Space Expo happening. At least that sort of explains the costumes.

We returned to the airport and made some small talk on the way, I need to tell him something that happened, but I just couldn't shatter this happy atmosphere. I'll tell him tomorrow, yeah that's when I'll do it.

The next, and last, person we picked up was a rather pretty woman. I could tell Jack thought so too, until she said "Planet Hollywood, please." Once she said that, Jack turned away and let out a small sigh.

"You've got everything here. This place is truly like being on another planet. With all this to see, every night, you guys must never get bored."

Jack just looked at her in the rearview mirror, but I had the decency to respond "I love coming here to visit my uncle because there are so many sights to see." We gave each other a small, friendly smile and returned to silence.

Once we arrived Jack finally spoke. "Welcome to the nutjob convention."

Really Jack? That's what you have to say to a woman I know you find attractive?

"I understand your reaction, but you certainly aren't helping our cause."

"Our cause?"

"Educating the public on the legitimate possibility of, life on other planets." I could see Jack slightly scoff at this.

"Jack, give her a chance." I told him.

"Really Cami? You believe her?"

"I believe that it is honestly, more probable that there is some form of life on other planets. Our universe is too massive for there not to be." Jack scoffed at my answer too.

"Nice to see someone believes in the science of it, and not just the fictional stories spread by Harland. As a matter of fact, I am giving a lecture on astrophysical anomaly detection at the ah, nutjob convention. Feel free to stop by, close minded skeptics are always welcome. Keep the change."

"Thanks." Was Jack's response, at least he thanked her. "So Cami, you really believe in aliens?" He slightly made fun of me, but in a friendly manner.

"Like I said, I believe it is almost statistically impossible for there not to be any other forms of life in this universe."

"Whatever" he dismissed the thought with a laugh. Completely honest, I'm not sure if there are, but when you had scientists for parents, you learn not to exclude any possibilities.

I slowly fell asleep and Jack woke me up when we arrived at the motel he is currently calling home. Most people would look at this and think, why is he taking in a teenager when he can't even provide his own roof? Well, my uncle has had some troubles with the law. When he recently got out of jail he went legit and it may not look like much, but this is a symbol of him making his own honest life, and I couldn't be prouder.

Jack groaned as the people in neighboring rooms were making so much noise doing things I don't want to think about and I could tell he couldn't fall asleep. I just put on my noise cancelling headphones and blocked it all out. I went out like a light.

A/N: This is my first book so please take that into consideration. I have a busy life, but I will try to keep the updating regular.

Anytime the font is bold and italic it is Camilla's thought, there are some other thoughts within the writing, but these are specific and important. Basically, it means they will certainly be read by Sara once they are introduced.

Also, I have provided some descriptions of what Camilla looks like, but I will not assign a celebrity to her, so you guys can just picture whoever you would like to.

Thank you for reading,
