An owl comes swooping in the window. Or, it would have if the window was open. Emilie giggled and opened the window. The owl, looking slightly ruffled, dropped the letter into Emilie's hands. She took one look at it, and her eyes lit up.
"You wait right here." She told the owl, and she raced off to find her mom."MUM! GUESS WHAT! MY HOGWARTS LETTER CAME!" She yelled to her mother who was in the garden. her mother looked up from planting a tulip bulb.
"That's great honey. I guess we'll have to arrange a trip to Diagon Alley then, hmm?" Emilie's mother said smiling. Emilie nodded excitedly. Her mother got up, dusted herself off, and followed Emilie to the owl that was waiting impatiently. She quickly jotted down a reply, and sent it back to Hogwarts with the owl. Emilie bounced up and down.
"So when are we going to Diagon Alley?" She asked.
"What's today? June 10th? How about in a week from now?" Her mother said. Emilie nodded.
Emilie skipped outside, and then ran all the way to her best friend's house. She skidded to a stop outside the front door. She knocked on the door.
The door opened up to reveal a very excited girl with blonde curly hair and hazel eyes."Did you finally get your letter?" The girl asked excitedly.
"Of course Kaylie! Why else do you think I'm so excited?" Emilie responded. Kaylie shrugged.
"Well it's about time! I've waited 2 and a half months for you to get your letter!" Kaylie exclaimed. The girls started chattering on and on about magic and wizards for the rest of the day, until Emilie had to go home.
