Emilie bounced as she waited for her mom to get the pot of Floo Powder. Her mom emerged from the back of the closet with a little flowerpot.
"Here you go. I'll be right after you." Her mom said. Emilie took a pinch of the Floo Powder and threw it in the fire.
"Diagon Alley!" She yelled, and vanished. Emilie reappeared in the Leaky Cauldron. She took a step to the side, brushed herself off, and waited for her mother to appear. Her mother stepped out of the fire a few seconds later with her purse in hand. Emilie's mother straightened up, offered her hand to Emilie, and they walked toward the entrance to Diagon Alley.
As soon as they got in, Emilie ran straight for Flourish and Blotts.
"So what books do you need?" Her mother asked. Emilie checked her list.
"The Standard Book of Spells Grade 1 by Miranda Goshawk,
A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot,
Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling,
A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch,
One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore,
Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger,
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander, and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble." Emilie said in one breath. "Phew, that's a long list!"
They bought the books and headed out. After going to get everything else, they headed over to Ollivander's. Emilie went in and waited for Mr.Ollivander to appear from the back. While she waited, she looked around and noticed all the boxes piled up in one corner, and wondered who and been here before her. Suddenly, Ollivander appeared out of the back. He charmed the measuring tapes to start their work, and then spoke.
"I've been wondering when you would come, Miss Iden. I remember when your mother first came. Alder with Unicorn Hair, 10 inches, supple. Then two years later she came back for another one. Hazel with Unicorn Hair, 12 inches, rigid. Here try this one." Ollivander handed Emilie a wand with a flower carving on it.
"Rowan with Dragon Heartstring, 12 1/2 inches, slightly springy."
Emilie swished the wand and the lights went out. Ollivander turned the lights back on and gave her a different wand.
"Oak with Unicorn Hair, 11 1/4 inches, surprisingly swishy." He said.
Emilie swished the wand again, and the tip glowed.
"There you go, 7 galleons please." Ollivander said. They paid and then left the shop.
As they were walking back to the Leaky Cauldron, out of the corner of her eye Emilie spotted Magical Menagerie. She pulled her mom in the direction of the shop and stopped right in front of it.
"Can I please get a pet? Please?" Emilie pleaded. Her mom relented after a while and Emilie rushed into the shop. She immediately spotted a black and orange tabby with green eyes. Emilie picked him up and showed him to her mom. Emilie's mom took the cat and paid for it.
"I'm going to name you Pepper." Emilie said. With that, they walked to the Leaky Cauldron and headed home.
