"Congrats! Mr. and Mrs. Elacion, It's my pleasure to be your wedding coordinator for your special day." Ms. Cuaterno said.
"Thank you so much but don't call me Mrs. Elacion, we are not married yet." Reese said.
Maeve held her hand and intertwined on his. "You will be Mrs. Elacion after a few days. And I promise that I will do my best to be a perfect husband." Maeve said and he kissed Reese's forehead.
"Love birds, get to your room and please don't envy me. Single lives matter." Ms. Cuaterno said with a furrowed forehead. She's still bitter, Maeve and Reese just laughed.
After they met Ms. Cuaterno, they are now on their way back home in Quezon City. It's 1:00 in the afternoon and they stopped at the gas station. Maeve said he need to pee. "Okay, I'll wait darling." Reese said. She's alone in the car, a few minutes later she decided to go inside the convenience store to buy something to eat. After she bought food, she bumped into an old woman.
Reese held her arm with care."I'm so sorry, Are you okay lola?" She asked with a worried voice.
The old woman was wearing a black belo placed over her head, she didn't answer Reese's question, she just stared at her. She felt awkward so she looked away, the old woman looked mysterious. She suddenly held Reese's arm, She immediately looked at the old woman with widened eyes. She felt something on her but she can't explain.
"Don't do it, you all will regret it."
Out of nowhere the old woman said that.
'What did she mean? Will we regret it? About what? Is she crazy or she's playing around?' Those are the questions that Reese overthink. Reese stared at her for a long time. 'something is up with her.'
"Darling! Uhm--what's going on?" Maeve asked.
But before Reese spoke the old woman already spoke.
"I already reminded you that it's up to you if you will do." old woman said.
"What do you mean?" Reese asked her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Your marriage, don't do it. While it's still early, obey what I said." She said and walked away.
Reese was left stunned, Maeve put his arm on her shoulder and guided her back to the car.
Today is their wedding day and Reese still can't believe it, from Reese May Abellar to Reese May Abellar-Elacion. She's so excited to make one big happy family.
Now, She's wearing her dream wedding gown walking on the aisle looking at her husband. She can't wait to be his wife, to make delicious food for their future kids, to love him unconditionally.
"In the name of the Holy Spirit, I now solemnly declare you husband and wife. Let no one put asunder those that have been joined together today in the presence of almighty God. You may now kiss the bride." The priest announced.
Maeve removed her veil, he held her cheeks with teary-eyed. Reese smiled, after that he kissed her with all love. They can hear their hearts beating. He kissed Reese passionately, Reese's mind is focused on him. She didn't even realize that audiences were applauding. After he kissed Reese, he pressed their foreheads.
"I love you to the moon and back." He whispered.
"I love you so much." Reese whispered.
And that is where it all came from that they didn't expect bad things will happen.
"Rhanz! How many times that I will tell you that you need to change your behavior! You're stressing me out! I've been called so many times in your school! Rhanz..when will you change?, As far as I know, I raised you with manners---"
"Are you already done? If yes, can I get a sleep? You're so noisy."
"Rhanz!---" Reese could not continue what she was going to say because Rhanz suddenly walked away.
She just held her head. "No stress please, I'm pregnant. It's not good for my baby." She sighed and drank a cup of water.
Her son Rhanz Mike is already 14 years old, She doesn't know why Rhanz changed. She just found out that he was joining in fraternities, always absent even though she always saw him go to school.
"Mom! Can you please stop caring about me! It's obviously fake! All of you don't care about me!"
Maeve punched Rhanz. "You don't have respect! We didn't raise you like that!"
Reese held Maeve's arm."Darling…Calm down, just talk to him calmly please. I don't want stress---"
"Stupid." Rhanz whispered.
Maeve held Rhanz collar and punched him again and again. "You're just 14 years old and you already have that kind of braveness? Why? Tell me why Rhanz! "
"D-Darling...A-Ahhh..It hurts.." Reese held her tummy.
"B-Blood...Darling!" Maeve carried Reese to go to the hospital.
But it was too late, the baby was gone.
Since then, many misfortunes have befallen in their family. Reese miscarriage, Maeve's siblings died in the accident, Reese mom died because of cancer, Rhanz got sick. They suffered until all their money, wealth were gone.
That day when the old woman reminded them was true, Maeve and Reese thought that if they had just obeyed what the old woman had said, nothing bad would have happened.
It's already midnight and Reese and Maeve are walking, when Reese bumped into an old woman. Reese got shocked, she was the old woman they met before.
"I told you." an old woman said.
"Why are we suffering like this? It's because of you huh---" the old woman cut her off.
"Sukob," Reese and Maeve eyes widened. "Reese you have a twin sister who also suffers from the start until now. I also reminded her, but she didn't listen. You got married at the same time, that's the reason." the old woman explained.
After the old woman spoke there was a truck suddenly appeared. Maeve held her arm and pushed Reese to save her. But Maeve bumped into the truck.
Reese was shocked when she looked around and the old woman disappeared. Then she saw her husband.
"M-Maeve…..MAEVEEEEE!"
"Woah! Is it true lola? That was so creepy." I said.
"Yes Charlie, It truly happens in the Philippines." Lola Alma told a short story, I listened from the start until the end.
"Uhm...Lola, is it possible that it will happen here in america?" I asked.
"I don't know Charlie...But I have to tell you something…"
"What is it lola?" I said with a curious tone.
"I'm the old woman."
