I stared into her hazel eyes as I sat down infront of her. The lunchroom smelled of chicken and strawberries, it made my desire for food race.
"Hey, uh, do you want me to get your food?" I asked her, unsure of what she will say next. I was nervous.
"Yeah, can you get me the tater tots and the strawberries and cream" she looked up at me with those eyes I loved so much.
"Okay, I'll be back"
I walked gingerly to the line and grabbed a tray. I reached the end of the line after a long while of looking around and avoiding Allison's gaze
"Uh, can I have two tater tots, a salad, a serving of strawberries and cream and apple pie" I asked the nice red-headed luchlady behind the glass seperating the line and them
"That'll be eight dollars and thirty two cents"
I paid a ten dollar note and told her to keep the change. The chatter around me seemed to die down while I walked down the path to the table where we were sitting. I rested the tray on the table and continued to sit down.
It was time. I knew that she wasn't going out with someone, she was my friend for goodness sakes. It was as if we were the only people in the cafeteria while I tried to spout out the words I needed to say.
As she was eating, I gulped the lump in my throat and glance at her. She noticed me and gave me her attention.
"Yeah?" she inquired
"Um,can I, uh, ask you something?"
"Yes, totally"
"Will you, uh, never mind"
"Okay?" she had a cute confused expression on her face. I just can't say it.
This will be a long ride.
