Chapter 7

"I HATE YOU!" Ashley and Luke has just gotten in a huge fight. It all started when Ashley had tried to sneak out and go to a party. Luke caught her in the act and was furious. He told Ashley that she was grounded and well, that was the result. Ashley ran upstairs and slammed the door. "Baby are you okay?" Caroline asked. "Ashley said she...my own daughter said she...she said that she hates me." Luke said while tears started to roll down his face. "I don't know what I keep doing wrong. It seems like every time I try to and do something good for her, she always turns around and hates me. I try to protect her and be a father to her and she won't let me. Baby what am I going to do?" "Its okay. She's just having a hard time adjusting to living with us. It'll work out." "She's been trying to adjust for 6 months now. Caroline let's face it. She hates me." "Luke for gods sake, she doesn't hate you. She is just very sensitive and insecure. She's never had a father. This family stuff is all new to her. She doesn't understand everything like we do. You just have to be gentle with her. She'll come around. Just give it a little more time." "Do you think I should go talk to her?" "Wait a bit Luke. Then go talk to her." Caroline said as she kisses Luke on the cheek. "I'm going to go to the store. I'm taking Bo and Tate with me. I love you baby. Have fun with Ashley."

Ashley stormed up to her room. 'Why is dad doing this to me? Doesn't he want me to be like other kids? Doesn't he want me to make friends,' Ashley thought as she sat on her bed. Ashley thought about calling Black Mike. 'Mike could help me, maybe.' Ashley picked up her phone. Ashley sat thinking for about 5 minutes before she finally decided to call Black Mike.

B- Hello
A- Hey Mike uh it's Ashley
B- Hey Ash what's up
A- Well me and daddy got into a little fight tonight and I was wondering if you could help me.
B- Why did you guys get into a fight?
A- I uh kinda tried to sneak out of the house to go to a party.
B- YOU WHAT!? ASHLEY WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!
A- Don't yell at me. I'm sorry. I just thought that if I went to this party that I'd make friends. I haven't been all that great in the friends category lately yanno.
B- Did you tell your father about wanting to go to this party?
A- Yes I did.
B- And what did he say?
A- He said that I couldn't go.
B- So you tried to go anyways. Ashley sweetie, your dad is only looking out for you. We all know what kind of things happen at parties in Nashville. He didn't want you to get hurt. He loves you very much. He only wants the best.
A- I know I-I gotta go dad's coming. Love you. Bye.

Luke knocked in the door. "Ashley? Ashley, sweetheart, please open the door I want to talk." Ashley opened to door and looked at Luke. "Dad I'm sorry," Ashley said as she walked to her bed and sat down on the floor. Luke sat down next to her. "I'm sorry I tried to sneak out. I'm sorry I'm a bad daughter." "Baby you aren't a bad daughter. You're a wonderful daughter. I couldn't ask for a better daughter." "I'd understand if you hated me now." "Now why would I hate you? Do you think Jason would ever hate Savanna or Stori?" "No because Vanna and Stori are his actual daughters. I'm not your actual daughter. I'm just the stupid person that lives with you." "Okay first of all you are not stupid. Just because you weren't born into this family like Savanna and Stori were born into the Carroll family does not mean we love you any less than Jason loves his kids. I know that this life is different and new but baby, we are here for you. We love you. I love you," Luke said as he kissed Ashley on the forehead. "Now why don't me and you go get some ice cream or something and have some father daughter time." "Alright dad. We can do that."
