GABRIELE POV

I wanted to test their strength. After all, no matter how this joke of a rating game goes, younglings like them are the future of the Underworld. You could ask me "why do you call them  younglings? they are the same age as you!" True, but I don't evaluate people by age, I do so by experience. They are newbies, so younglings, weak.

Flashback

9029: From my understanding, you lot lack flexibility. Take Kiba for example. You are a knight, but you rely too much on your speed. If you find an opponent as fast as you, or with the means to counter your speed, you are done for. I've devised a plan to increase your overall physical strength as to develop your raw power stats. at the end of your training, you'll spar with me. Clear?

Kiba: Yes sensei!

9029: Koneko, you're Kiba's natural enemy. As a rook, you think raw power is everything, and that you can pound your way through everything and everyone using your feats. However, you lack speed, agility and spatial awareness. You'll train to deliver a barrage of fast attacks rather than one or two powerful ones. You'll train one on one with me at some special training grounds i currently own, and you'll also get to spar with Kiba. Same for you 1v1 at the end of the training. Sound good?

Koneko: Good sensei!

9029: As for the King and Queen, you go too hot on your magic power, and so you lack measure and accuracy. You'll train in marksmanship. Asia on the other hand needs to be able to defend herself, and maybe I can teach her some defence spells I know.

Asia, Rias, Akeno: Yes sensei!

9029: Now for the biggest problem, Issei. As a pawn, you can promote to every piece. I'd advise you not to promote to queen or bishop and concentrate on rook and knight. Your training will be a combination of Kiba's and Koneko's, and you three will also fight each other. I'll evaluate your training on how well can you perform against them. Are we clear?

Issei: Fine sensei!

SMALL TIMESKIP

Supervising Kiba's training is rather enjoyable. Seeing the Prince of Kuoh trying to build some mass is a sight i never thought i'd see.

9029: One more, c'mon! Koneko would have done it with her eyes closed!

Kiba: Hai!

9029: No speaking! Lift those fuckers!

Rias: emm..sensei?

9029: What is it?

Rias: why are you trying to Rook my knight and to Knight my Rook?

9029: *sigh*i'll explain in dumbass. Since you never once trained them, the are stuck to the benefits and abilities of their own pieces. You don't have the numeric advantage, so we compensate with brains.

Rias: I was devising a plan for the fight and i wanted your advice.

9029: I see. i would not recommend a surprise attack. you're already short on manpower as it is. Train Asia in magic and send her with Issei, while Kiba and Koneko take care of the rest. Use your familiar to lure enemies to locations of your choosing. fight on a terrain of your choosing and you'll have half of the battle won in a moment's notice. Now if you'll excuse me.

9029 *to Koneko*: oi! we're leaving!

Koneko: Hai!

Rias: where are you taking my servant?
