Chapter 10: Time

I DIDN'T KNEW this day would come, Kendrah, my son, Xenon, Kendrah's parents and mine all having fun and all smiles.

Despite the years that had passed, sariwa padin lahat ng ala-ala ko ang lahat ng sinabi ni Mr. Sarmiento sa'kin noon.

The memory from the past still lingers in my head, replaying the scene...

It was a gloomy afternoon, about to rain when Mr. Sarmiento called me telling that he wanted to see me in his company. Nag-aalangan pa akong pumunta dahil tinatapos ko pa ang paperwork na pinangako ko kay mama na tatapusin ko.

Even though it's my last year in college and my hectic schedule, I made sure to help my mother in our company. Mas mabuti nang magsimula ako ng maaga na pag-aralan ang kompanya, and when the time comes that I'll be the one to handle our company, I'll make sure it will be the best, on the top.

I looked at the glass walls outside, nag-uumpisa ng pumatak ang ulan, kung ano mang gustong sabihin ni Mr. Sarmiento na hindi niya masabi sa phone call ay nasisiguro kong importante. I sighed and looked at my laptop, I had no choice but to close all the tabs and shut it down.

Nag-mamadali akong isilid sa case nito at tumingin sa mga kasamahan ko na abala parin sa kani-kanilang trabaho.

Tumikhim ako at nakuha ko ang atensyon nila. "Guys, okay lang bang mauna ako? May emergency kasi eh. Kailangan kong puntahan." I hate to lie on them but it's my girlfriend's father after all.

Sumaludo naman si Dexter. "No problem, Szion! Kaya na namin toh! Tapos mo naman 'yung sayo eh." Ani nito.

Oo't tapos na ako sa grupong gawain
but my mother's paper work hasn't finished yet. Hindi ko naman gusto na isipin nalang may pabor ako sa mama ko dahil anak ako ng may-ari. I don't what them to think that I'm having a VIP treatment.

Tumango naman ang iba ko pang kasamahan at agad nagpasalamat sa kanila. Umalis na ako at agad tinungo ang parking lot. I just texted mom that I'm already out cause she's still in a board meeting.

Umuulan na habang nagmamaneho ako patungo sa kompanya ni Mr. Sarmiento, it took me fifteen minutes to arrived in their company. I parked my car in their designated parking lot. Pinatay ko na ang sasakyan at tumingin sa labas.

"Shit...." I trailed off when I forgot that I don't have any umbrella. Tumingin ako sa likod ng sasakyan, finding anything to cover me from the rain. Nothing, damn.

Hinalughog ko ang maliit nitong compartment until something caught my eye, sa dashboard ay nakita ko ang isang puting shawl.

It was Kendrah's shawl....I grab it and smiled. I think she forgot it when we had a date last week.

Speaking of her...I glanced at my phone, brows furrowed, she didn't reply yet to my text. I asked if where is she, kung nasa University pa ba ito or naka-uwi na siya.

I called her but sadly she's not picking up her phone...Tinawagan ko pa ito ng dalawang beses, still she's not answering. Maybe, she's busy. Tinext ko nalang itong mag di-dinner kami mamaya.

Huminga ako ng malalim at binuksan na ang pinto ng sasakyan. Cold air and pouring rain welcomed me, I covered my head using Kendrah's shawl, dali-dali akong tumakbo sa entrance ng kanilang kompanya at thankfully pinapasok kaagad ako ng guard doon like they're expecting me.
