Annabeth was done with all the schools he legally had to do, but that wouldn't get her the job of her dreams. The mandatory years of school weren't great to her, but she knew that the next decade of her life being spent studying would be worth it to become a surgeon. All she wanted was to help people, and she couldn't think of a better way to do it than to save lives. Sure there are other positions to help people, but this had the least conversation with people she didn't know too well. There is only a few days before she starts her classes at the community college not far from her home. Everyone she knew was going to big colleges, but she didn't have the money to go anywhere better just to get the same classes. Luckily her best friend, Desiree, was staying with her so they could study together like they did in high school.
Desiree had been Annebeth's closest friend since they met in the third grade. They could have been sisters, the way that they would be laughing together one minute and at each other's throats the next. Many people did think they were sisters with how similar their long brown hair was, and the single dimple they both had only on the right side of their face. The first noticeable difference between the two was the eyes, Desiree's were dark brown, while Annabeth's were a greenish blue.
They were ready to finally start college, both had plenty of years ahead of them, and they were ready to brave it together for as long as they could. Whatever the world had to throw at them, they knew that they could only survive it side by side. The world can't possibly be too much for them to handle on day one of being on their own.
