"Hey, Jerry!" I said from across the bar. "Lemme get another round over here for me and my friend Marcus."
"You got it, Alex." The bartender here really knows how make a great drink.
I sighed, and tilted my head back as I listened to the music at the bar. Just as busy as usual, I see.
Marcus placed his hand on my shoulder "Man, I didn't know you were such a *hiccup* heavy drinker." He slurred as he took another shot of vodka.
"I'm not" I chuckled " you're just a feather weight" I said as I downed the rest of my beer. Nothing like a cold Bud Light to end the night.
"Hey Alex"
"Yeah Marcus?"
"Did you know that I'm a wizard?"
I let out a loud laugh. "I think you've had a bit too much to drink."
"But I'm serious!" He whined, as he stomped his foot on the ground like a child.
"Oh yeah? Can you make me immortal?" I said jokingly. This is should be great.
He scoffed. "Of coursseeeeee I can! That's a mid-level wizard spell, and I just happen to be a master." He said while flipping his long, nonexistent hair over his shoulder.
"Oh reallyyyyyy?" I said while squinting my eyes at him.
He gasped dramatically. "You don't believe me??" He stood up loudly, causing some people to look out way. "Fine, then I guess I'll have to show you."
I stood up along side him "Look, Marcus, I do bel-"
"NO!"
What have you done Alex?
I didn't mean t-
Nah..
Why am I even having a conversation with y-
..YA DONE MESSED UP NOW!
Shut up, Me!
You first!Marcus placed his hand on my arm and I immediately felt a chill down my spine. Huh, must be a draft in here
Warmth started to spread throughout my body, starting at the point where Marcus had his hand on me. From my arm, to the center of my being, then my legs. What the hell?
As the warmth reached my neck I began to feel dizzy. Oh it must be the alcohol.
I looked at Marcus and tried to speak but my mouth wouldn't work. Actually, I can't move my body at all anymore.
My gaze went from one of disbelief, to one of panic.
He smirked. "You should never have doubted the power of a wizard, my friend." My vision began to blur.
As the darkness started to cloud my vision, I heard a voice.
Alex...
Huh? Who is that?
Alex, get up...
That voice sounds so familiar
"Alex, wake up!"
I sat up with a jolt and realized that I had passed out at the bar.
Jerry, the bartender, looked at me concerned, "You alright?" He asked. "You passed out after your third drink."
Ah, so it was just a dream.
"Yeah, I'm alright."
"You really shouldn't be out here all by yourself at this hour, Alex." He said while cleaning my glasses. "I thought your friend would take you home but he left a little while ago."
So Marcus was here..
Wait, what does he mean by "at this hour"?
"What are you talking about? It's only-"
I glanced at my watch to see that it was 11:57.
Oh shit.. what happened? I came here with Marcus at 8:30...
I groaned and ran my hands down my face. That should be the the least of my worries. A 22 year old, female, with beauty such as mine, shouldn't walk home in the city by herself.
You know what? Fuck it, I'll be fine.
I grabbed my jacket and pain for my drinks. "Don't worry about me Jerry, I can't take care of myself."
"Whatever you say, Alex."
We said our goodbyes as I headed out in night.
As I was walking home, I heard footsteps behind me.Just keep walking, Alex.
I made a few turns and they were still following me.
I looked back to see a few men wearing dark sweatshirts trailing me.
I made the mistake of walking faster and I accidentally made a wrong turn.. into an alley.. at night..
Wow, I'm so lucky ( Note the sarcasm )
I reached a dead end and my heart stopped as I heard chuckles from the men behind me.
"Well, would you look at what we have here."
