"You're going to love it out here El," Millie said excitedly. I smiled at her through the screen. "Oh my gosh, where should we go first?"

"I just want to walk the streets."

"But that's so boring!"

"I think it would be somewhat relaxing. Plus I think I have things to do when I first get there." She made a face that made me laugh a little.

Millie and I have been friends since we were 5. Her dad works for mine, and he was brought over one day. Since then we pretty much have been best friends. She always brings me things from the city or shows me pictures when she comes to visit.

"Have you spoken to Taly lately?" I asked. Taliyah and I have been friends since we were 10. It was strange how we met but we just did. I was being a little too curious by the gates and she just happened to walk by. It's kind of funny if you think about it.

"She texted me a few days ago. Said her parents were going through some stuff."

"She told me the same thing. Maybe you should go check on her?" Millie nodded.

"I'll go tomorrow. I'll try to bring her over and we can have lunch?"

"Bring me a pizza?" Millie laughed but agreed just like she always does when I ask for some classic New York pizza. I could hear faint voices from Millie's end so I knew she had to go.

"I'll text you tomorrow." She hung up before I got a chance to say bye. I set my iPad on my side table and laid on my bed like a starfish. How I survived here for so long I have no clue.

I heard my phone ding from the other side of the room so I got up to check it. It was my mom telling me to come downstairs. I texted back an 'ok' and then headed down.

When I got to the top of the stairs I could hear voices talking. They seemed to be coming from the main living room so that's where I went. My mom and dad were both standing there across from a woman and I'm guessing her son?

"Ah, there she is," my dad smiled at me and held out his arm for me to come and hug him. I did sense that's what I'm supposed to do. "Mrs. Morgan and Daniel this is my lovely daughter Elara and Elara this is Mrs. Morgan and her son Daniel." I smiled at them both and shook their hands.

"It's nice to meet you both."

"It's wonderful to meet you too dear. I hear your 18th birthday is coming up," Mrs. Morgans said with a smile on her face. I'm still confused about what this is all about. I glanced over at Daniel who seemed to be in his own world right now.

"It is. I'm looking forward to it."

"Elara Mrs. Morgans is going to be planning and arranging everything for it. You and she are going to work together so it comes out how you like it. Her son is working on getting hours for his school work so he will be helping as well." I nodded and smiled at them both.

"Thank you both. When are we supposed to start?"

"I have my things with me in the car if you would like to get a little under our belts right now."

"That seems like a great idea," my mom said.

"Daniel would you please go get my planner from the car?"

"Elara go with him," my mom put her hand on my back and pushed a little towards Daniel. I decided not to fight against her and just went with him.

"So what's your deal?" Daniel asked as soon as we were out of earshot of the adults. His accent was faintly there nothing too deep.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't play stupid. I never even heard that the Morano's had a daughter."

"Well, maybe it's none of your business."

"It's my business now. You don't think I'm going to keep quiet about this do you?"

"I didn't even know it was a secret in the first place." He opened the car door and dug through the piles of stuff before pulling out a black binder and organizer.

"I don't know why my mother took this job in the first place but I just want it done with so we aren't associated with your family more than we need to be." He shut the door pretty harshly might I add and then walked inside leaving me behind.

I was a little surprised at how he acted towards me. Is this how everyone is? I know I've only met a very few number of people my age but I thought they would be a little nicer I guess.

When I got inside Mrs. Morgans and my mom was laughing at something and my dad was nowhere to be seen. Of course, Daniel was sitting as far away as possible from them.
