SASKIA'S POV Era 982, Junius
THERE MUST be an unseen spotlight above for people to crowd us like this. They stood still on the pavement, eyes fixated on us, with a decent distance to unblock our path.
Had they been notified of our arrival? It's like the special treatment I often see people do with high ranking officials, in which we're not the perfect candidate for.
Nagpatuloy kami sa pathway papasok ng syudad sa gabay ng magkapatid. People's discerning eyes never leave us alone. The younger ones even aired their sparkling eyes.
Many are trying to guess whether we're some sort of elite mage or simply a group of scholars sent from Arozel.
Whichever of the two maintains the high profile they regard us. They probably know who we are, and what type of job gets done by us beyond the barriers to promise security for each citizen.
"This is the northern sector of Acrine City. Staying here is way safer than living in fear near the southeast sector where Fallen Souls are rampant." Eunice introduced, greeting hand-in-hand the extended warm welcome of people across all angles.
I smiled at the kids who waved their hands animatedly. Gano'n din ang ginawa ng iba sa amin. We seemed like returned knights who battled their way for survival and honor.
I slumped back the moment I felt my energy depleting. The sea of crowd is sucking the life out of me. The focus was soul lifting, I guess for others, but not for me.
"Now, now, settle down everyone." Eunice paved the way, Keith followed her like a tail.
The buzzing crowd slowly died down by her command, a shred of proof of their status.
It surfaces back in my mind how they announced our arrival earlier.
When spears began thudding the ground and sentries approached us with great esteem. The gate was opened without hesitation, nor did they probe the validity of our presence. We managed to get in like a breeze.
It's all because of these two Hefuine.
"Bakit hindi namin alam na ama niyo pala ang namumuno sa Acrine City?" Tanong ni Amy. Ngumiti lang si Eunice sa kaniya.
"Only in the northern sector." She rectified. "There are four lord mayors managing the city. That's just how big it is."
This is not surprising at all.
I knew they would be in a high-ranking position. It's seen in the way they present themselves, how they speak articulately, how Eunice glides like a swan in combat, and how Keith talks in civil tongue. It's all within their mannerism and demeanor.
There's no use being skeptical with their credibility when the truth speaks for itself.
Halos lahat naman sa kanila. It goes without saying that everyone from our class are secretly nobles in white uniforms. So I set myself not to be surprised anymore in the near future.
