Ayanna POV

It felt eerie watching her, but her aura was magnetic. It was impossible not to stare. She jogged down the concrete steps clumsily as she attempted to tie her hair into a bun. She scoffs as her curls fall out the tie and frame around her head. Despite her frustration, she walks to a bus stop. She seemed to be in a hurry. I followed her unwillingly, not only because I ride the same bus, but I also felt this foreign attraction to her. She was reeling me in subconsciously.

As she rested against the wall of the bus stop, I took a seat next to her. She seemed to be faultless. The wind gently blew her curls across her face. Her hair was a cherry red color that complimented her deep, honey brown skin. The sun shone through the clouds creating a golden tint in her eyes and skin, which only seemed to seduce me more.

My heart drops when she notices me staring. But it quickly rose back up as she smiled and waved gently at me. How can one's smile be this perfect? I nodded at her but quickly shifted my attention to the bus that just came to a stop.

Chantelle POV

I speed through the halls, making my way towards my last class. I begin looking for the binder I left here yesterday. I scan the room as fast but also as precise as possible. Knowing damn well if I don't find this binder right now, I'm going to be tardy to my first class. I let out a sigh of relief when I find my binder. As I am heading out the room, the bell echoes all throughout the school. Soon enough, students start rushing into the room and scurrying for chairs to rest on. I dodge around everyone but when I got to the door, I saw the girl who was looking at me earlier. We both follow each other's eyes as we walk past one another. I studied her soft features and was mesmerized by her dark brown skin. Her locs added the final touch to her. They were long and hung all the way down to her waist.

"Shit I'm fin be late." I whisper to myself as I snap back into reality. I zoomed to my class, but then I heard the final bell ring. I was beyond stressed at this point.

I walk into the settled classroom, "Why are you late?" Professor White asked me with an intimidating tint in her eyes. "I- I went to get my binder an-" The professor cut me off, "It's alright Chantelle, just have a seat." I nodded and made my way to my seat, letting out a breath of relief.

"Alright everyone. As you all know, I will be assigning you a project next week." The professor raises her voice to be audible to everyone in the room. I groaned in my head at the thought of having to complete a project. "For it, you will talk to these specific criminals as if you were their therapist. Your goal is to identify their mental disorders, or what was going on in their head, causing them to commit the crimes they com..."

I began to tune out every sound around me and listening to only my thoughts. I'm usually the type to be 'enthusiastic' for school, but I haven't been able to sleep right and it's messing with me.

Hours later..

"Girl you look drained! Come on I have just the thing for you." Venus drags me to my closet and begins picking out clothes for me. "Why your clothes all borin'?" She asks in an animated voice, tossing my shirts across the room after having one look at them. "Bruh what is you doing?" I asked annoyed picking up my clothes after her. "You bouta party wimme, youn never go nowhere. Shit, looking at you makes me feel tired." She replies, "Ooh! This perrrty!" She exclaims as she sees an outfit she likes. Venus loves partying. No, that would be an understatement. She shares the same admiration for partying as I do for a bag of Takis.

"Girl ion wanna go to no party." I jump onto my bed and cross my arms. "Nah bitch you coming wimme." she yells as she scans my shoe collection.

I drove down the street with my best friend next to me, blasting music from the radio and rapping along as if we knew the lyrics. I don't know how she convinced me to go but here I am.

The second we got there, Venus got lost in her circle of friends, leaving me alone of course. Which is exactly why I hate going out. I go straight to where the alcohol is at. I began mixing different liquors all into my cup. I'm definitely not going to be surviving this sober.

I find myself smoking with this white man I've never seen in my life. But I pause when I notice her across the room, I could recognize that silhouette anywhere. She moved around by herself, riding the wavelengths of the song in the middle of the room. She seemed to be so care free, as if anyone can lead her through a tunnel blindfolded. My heart begins to beat rapidly as she makes her way towards me. "Shit did she catch me staring??" I asked myself out of fear.

She reached her hand out to me with the most welcoming smile my eyes have ever come across. I took her hand, and tingles filled the nerves of my fingertips and traveled throughout my body.

We danced along to the music, matching rhythms as though we knew each other for years. Nothing around us mattered, everything was blurred and faded but she was heightened. We danced playfully until she grabbed onto my waist. Shivers overwhelmed core. She used her other hand to push my chin gently upwards so I can look up into her eyes.

I explored every hue and tint in her eyes; her eyes were surreal. We close in the space between us, inching towards each other. She brushes her thumb over my bottom lip, leaning her head forward. I close my eyes as we were about to interlock lips, but I pull back when I hear Venus screaming in the other room. I looked back at the girl one last time before running towards Venus.

She was about to get jumped, but we fought our way through. As we were running out of there, I heard a voice, "Wait!" It was her. That was the first time I heard her voice. She continued as I waited, holding onto Venus, "You're drunk, you can't drive." I furrowed my eyebrows, "And you aint?" "Yeah but you way more lit." She insisted.

"Fuck it." I mumbled as I threw her the key.
