Silence {Romano x Reader}
Stop me, say you wanna stop me.
Say you wanna stop me now.
'So this is how it is now' The staggeringly depressing situation revolving around you hung heavy upon your shoulders as you watch Lovino, your boyfriend of two years leave for work. Not a single goodbye or kiss was shared, just a glance. The look in his eyes told you what his mouth couldn't. He was sick. Sick of you. Both of you knew this unspoken cry, but neither of you had the gall to say it out loud, the mutual fear of being alone again tethering you down together. When you first began dating, you two were the hopelessly in love. 'Oh how far we've fallen.' You think dryly as you make your way to your shared room, fingers sliding along the recently pictureless walls.
But I'm leaving, yes I'm gonna leave you.
Yes I'm gonna leave your life.
For hours you sat alone on your cold bed, blankly glaring up at the ceiling in desperation, searching for an answer to end this heartbreaking silence. None ever came. You only ever knew the feeling of a bitterly frozen bed nowadays. Lovino would always wake up before you, whether on purpose or not was unknown to you, to get ready for work. You would usually wake up shorty before he left to bid him goodbye, although now there seemed to be no bidding of any sort. Every day, you would retreat to your room and simply think. You were a song less song bird trapped in it's own cocoon of feathers, unable to break free.
If it's just 'sorry', I don't want your sorry.
I don't want your sorry now.
The day finally came when your voice broke through, just as Lovino was leaving once again for work, the simple but hollow words brought the world down upon both of you. And all you said was- "It's over isn't it?" Lovino froze at the door. His shoulders stiff as he looked over to you with those gorgeous hazel eyes of his, showing some sort of emotion for the first time in months. Pain. "What?" Even though he immediately knew what you were referencing, he chose not to believe it- for surely he was mistaken. Hot tears began to blur your vision as you whisper your quiet reply. "Us." Lovino's eyes widen and his expression breaks, revealing his inner hurt. He turns away from you and stares hopelessly through the open doorway. "I," his voice cracked. "guess so."
The wall between you suddenly became crushing, all of your feelings and wants suddenly being locked away from each other with those words. Lovino doesn't dare look at you once he leaves, slamming the door behind him in an attempt to get farther from what broke him, you. Salty droplets cascade down his reddened cheeks as he looks up at the patronizingly bright sun. 'Ti amo ancora.'
It's too late, you know, It's too late you know.
Wasted time.
Pictures littered the floor of your solitary room, more images being added every second. You desperately clawed through albums and boxes, trying to retain that happiness you once had. The man you had once been head over heels with, the one who taught you to truly love, was gone. The relationship built upon a fragile thread had finally snapped. You threw box after box behind you, ignoring the shattering sounds in their wake. You were searching for anything, any last bit of string to grasp. You toss one last album over your shoulder, unintentionally knocking something loose. You soon notice an object falling at your feet. Bittersweet sadness takes an iron grip on your heart as you gaze with owlish eyes at the gleaming object.
Say, do you wanna play for love?
do you wanna play for love?
Lovino had been parked before his workplace for what felt like hours, but he didn't dare leave his vehicle. Shuttering sobs wracked his body and tore at his throat as his mind began to deteriorate. A messy jumble of words were splattered across his phone screen, all addressed to you but none were sent. His phone slipped through his shaking fingers, dropping onto his lap beside his open wallet. The wallet was wide open, revealing a photo from his one year anniversary with you.
If it's just teasing, I will be your teaser.
I will be your teaser now.
An earsplitting scream ripped passed your mouth as your senses fell apart. You drop to your knees and take hold of the gleaming object, cradling it within your grasp. Tears of anguish drip onto your hands at the realization of what the item meant.
Tightly pressed between your fingers laid a gleaming gold ring.
Say, you wanna know me.
Try to let it out.
