You Found Me by the Fray
__________
I was nervous. I didn't know what she was trying to get at, but I tried to evaluate her words in my head as quickly as I could without being at all wrong.
"Of course it did," I shook my head, my eyebrows turned downward.
Before I could ask her why she was asking me that question, she cut me off. "Really? Then why haven't you tried to convince me to stay? If I was really that important, you would've at least tried to keep me here! But you didn't! Do you even know how badly that hurts me?"
Running my tongue across my lips, I stepped forward to comfort her but she put her hands up defensively before I could come any closer.
"No, don't come near me!" she yelled, a flash of lightning going off behind her, a loud boom of thunder following shortly after. Her words just about broke my heart. Hearing her say them hurt more than anything. I watched her, my eyes browsing over her. I didn't know what to do. "It kills me to know that you don't care about me nearly as much as I care about you. I-- I don't know why or how it happened, but you just stopped caring!"
"Mary, I--"
"Just leave me alone," she interjected, narrowing her broken eyes at me. "Thanks for being there for me, but you don't have to bother anymore."
She turned around to go down the steps, heading out into the rain. Her clothes became wet almost instantly, her hair following.
Go after her! a voice in my head shouted. This is your chance! Show her what she means to you. Show her!
I moved down the steps, the droplets of rain soon having the same effect over me as they did her. No regrets in my mind, I went after her. I had nothing to lose.
Finally, I caught up to her and grabbed onto her hand from behind, spinning her around to me. Before she could say anything at all, I pushed my lips to hers fiercely, holding her face in my hands once I released her hand from my grip. All of the tension that had been accumulated was torn down with just one kiss. And once she brought her arms around my body and kissed back, I knew I had her where I wanted her.
Our lips moved together in a way that I didn't even know was possible. It was like it was meant to happen. It was greater than I could've ever imagined.
I slid my hands down to her waist while she draped her arms over my shoulders and moved in closer so that our bodies were as tight as they could possibly get. Her fingers ran through my wet hair, causing my heart to beat faster. The kiss was more than intense-- as it should've been, considering we'd waited so long-- and I knew it wasn't going to end with just kissing.
Gripping the backs of her legs, I lifted her up and wrapped her legs around my waist, loving the way her fingertips dragged across my neck. I continued to kiss her even as I turned around and carried her back inside. Her hands cupped my face as she pressed her lips to mine over and over again in a flustered manor. The way we kissed was everything I wanted and more.
As I moved up the stairs to my room, she pulled away from me to catch her breath, her eyes locked on mine as our noses and lips continuously brushed over each others. Once I reached my room, things only heated back up. I dropped her to her feet and kissed her again, running my hands over her wet clothes, my fingers occasionally running over the small strip of skin between her shirt and pants. She only kissed back harder, both of her hands sliding from my neck, down my abdomen, and stopping at the bottom of my shirt. Without any hesitation, she lifted my t-shirt and pulled it up about halfway, took her lips from mine, and finally removed my shirt to expose my upper half. Dropping it to the floor, she moved back into me, her lips crashing into mine soon after. Her anxious hands ran over my body, her movements flustered and passionate. Mine matched up to hers due to the fact that I had been waiting for something of that nature to happen for so long.
