I tripped and stumbled.. But only cause of someone's foot purposely in the way. Judging by the laughing, I figured it wasn't placed there in a funny friendly teasing way. I glared at the whole group, before holding my head high and stalking off, Kate following quickly behind.
As soon as we were out in the hallway, I let out a short groan of frustration and kicked the wall. The lockers rattled, agitated by the blow, reflecting my emotions. "Why do they hate me so much?" I whispered, and I hated how my voice broke with concealed hurt.
Kate stared at me in utter shock, like she couldn't imagine why I was so confused. "Don't you get it? They hate you because.. They.. Love you." She said the second they in almost reverence, as if I should know who it was just by that one word.
"No, I don't freaking get it, and I'd appreciate it if you clued me in."
Kate sighed and gave me a level look. "Abbi, you have the four most popular guys at our school wrapped around your pinky finger and you don't even see it. They envy you.. And I'll be damned if I said I didn't either." She said and spun on her heel. Striding away down the barren hallway without even glancing back.
What.
The.
Hell.
