It's been five days since I've last seen or talked to Ashton. Ever since he left my house in a hurry I haven't heard from him. I've tried calling, texting, facetiming, everything but he won't pick up.
It's come to the point where I'm tempted to ask Cory if he's heard anything.
Over the past few days, I've been trying to get my mind off him but the thought of not knowing what happened was driving me insane. At least if I knew then I could somehow fix it.
"Angela, sweetie, when will this wedding happen?" My Mom asked as she flipped through a wedding magazine.
"When Jacques proposes"
"He still hasn't?" I added, looking up from my phone.
"Do you see a ring on my finger" She snapped at my mom and I.
As my mom and I both turned and look at one another, we couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous she sounded. Angela was so worked up over nothing, her and Jacques have been together for almost 5 years now-- I'm sure it means something to him.
"I'm giving him an ultimatum" Angela announced, catching our attention.
"Uh.. for what?" I asked
"Either he proposes by the summer or I'm leaving him"
Again, my mom and I looked back at each other. This wasn't a good plan, ultimatums never work out. Take the Office, for example, Holly gave her boyfriend an ultimatum, he proposed then she still broke up with him.
"Honey, I don't think that's a good idea"
"I don't care!" She snapped at my mom, "I'm getting old, I want kids by the time I'm 30 and if he doesn't give me what I want-- I'm gone"
"But--but..." My Mom tried to say something, but nothing was coming out of her mouth.
"Mom, she's already made up her mind. Just leave it, I'm sure Jacques will propose"
"Ok!" Angela said, clapping her hands, "so Maggie, Charles was telling me a guy was over here a few days ago"
I froze in shock. It's been days since he was here... why did she have to bring it up now? Let alone in front of my mom?
My mom's head snapped in my direction and I couldn't help but glance over and see her shocked expression. Obviously, he never said anything to her.
"I...was uh.. helping Ashton with homework"
"That's nice of you, honey." My mom replied, losing the surprise look on her face, "he's a very sweet boy just a little on the wild side sometimes"
Angela snorted, "unlike Maggie. I guess opposites do attract"
"Shut up!" I snapped, losing my anger, "he and I are just friends. Nothing else. He doesn't do relationships and I accept that"
I felt terrible for snapping at them like that but just the thought of Ashton makes me lose my marbles. He's way to complicated and just because he confessed his love for me doesn't automatically mean we're dating but yet at the same I wish it did.
Oh, I really wish it did.
"Maggie, I know you know, but the same rules apply as it did to Charles and Angela. No closed doors with the opposite gender"
"Mom!" I groaned, "you don't have to worry about me"
"It's my job to worry about you"
I rolled my eyes at her and continued to flip through the magazine. Everyone else in the family was at the beach watching fireworks but for some reason, my mom and Angela decided to stay behind.
