"So you think your going to become something in New York, do you? Huh?" My mum bellowed slamming the dish washer door shut. "You'' be nothing, nothing! New York is a city full of people, people that will-"

"Find me, i want to be something! Not just live on a farm all my life and do nothing!" I interupted and shouted back.

"Oh right, then. Well of you go Heath." She said pointing at the door.

"Why do you have to be like this?" I asked crossing my arms. My dad sat on the sofa, ignoring our arguement and read the paper.

"Why?" "Why?" She repeated her self laughing, putting her hands on her hips.

"You are a 19 year old, naive teenage girl. You dont understand the world, if it hit you on the backside!" She shouted.

"Ive had enough." She added crossing her arms. "You want to go to New York? Fine. Goodbye." My mum said before storming off into her bedroom.

I ran straight to my bedroom after that, even more determind to pack my suitcase. So i did. I grabbed my suitcase from underneath my bed and grabbed all my clothes packing and shoving them in, with shoes at the bases and towels and things i would need. I had planned this for a very long time, saving up money to catch a plane. I had my passport and i had booked the flights already. I grabbed my coat and placed it on top of my suitcase with my rucksack and lay it by the side with some of my belongings. My last item placed in the suitcase before it was closed and locked was a photo frame of my family. I was ready and tomorrow morning and 5:00am, i will drive to the airport and get a plane to New York.

I got dressed into my spare pjs that i hadnt packed and got into bed and couldnt wait till tomorrow arrived.

-BUZZ-   -BUZZ-    -BUZZ-    -BUZZ- my alarm clock kept ringing. I slapped the button on the top and got dressed quickly being as quiet as possible, not to wake the family up. I grabbed my coat and my ruck sack and suitcase and made it outside, taking my car keys with me to unlock my car and put my stuff in the boot.

I closed the door behind me quietly as possible and i was soon on way to the airport.

Within 5 hours i had my way through check in, duty free and was on the plane landing in New York. I was finally here and i couldnt wait for my new life. I was finally going to be something, not just a farm girl from North Carolina.

I had rented out a flat and i had retrieved my suitcase and was in a taxi heading to the address. "That will be $20" I handed over the money and got out with my stuff. It was an old building, dirty walls and a tramp was laying in the doorway. "Excuse me." I said as i walked over him and into the lobby.

There was a receptionist. The carpets were old and dirty and the walls hadnt seen paint in years, damp had leaked through.

I walked over to the receptionist. "Hello, my names Heath Masone and im renting out one of the flats?" I said to her. "Ah, your room number is 23, take the lift up to level 23." She handed me the key, which now will be my house key. I felt excited and mature for once as i stepped into the elevator and headed to my new home.

I inserted the key into the lock and turned it till it opened. The room was a huge disapointment.

The window was wide open letting all the cold in, i closed the door behind me and dumped my stuff on the dirty carpet and closed the window. The sofa was ripped and the tv was old and the volume button was hanging off. I made my way over to the bed, which was discustingly dirty too, id rather sleep on the sofa. The bathroom looked like it had seen better days, whats the point of having a bath to get dirty again by it?

I was not happy. This was one massive welcome to New York City.
