I look up from the small mountain of paperwork on my kitchen table to the front door, wondering if I actually heard someone knock. The thick sound of three knocks on the wooden door resonated through my apartment, confirming my thoughts.

Hopping out of the cushioned chair, I walked over to the door, unlocking it before pulling it slightly ajar. Standing at my door was a man. His chocolate brown eyes scanned my body while my own pale blue eyes did the same. The man in front of me has slightly tanned skin and high cheekbones. Dark brown hair was styled so this bangs were out of his face. His straight nose, full lips and strong jaw line portrayed a man in power. His body was covered in a thick black winter jacket and dark blue jeans completed with black doc martins. Through the clothes, a faint outline of muscle could be seen hinting at broad shoulders and a body made out of muscle.

As my eyes met his again, a small smile tilted his lips upwards, making him even more breathtaking than before. He finally cleared his throat and began in a deep baritone voice,
"My Emelia, you certainly have changed in the past five years."

A soft chuckle rumbled through his chest as he watched my eyes widen in shock.

Standing before me is no longer the lanky, awkward boy that was in many of my fondest childhood memories, but a man who finally grew into his broad shoulders and deep voice. My childhood best friend, Sebastian Black, was standing outside my apartment door looking like he just popped out of a magazine.

I stumbled over the words in my head, too much in shock to actually put a sentence together. After blinking a bit, pinching myself and clearing my throat, my mind finally formed the question I was searching for.

"Sebastian, Why are you here?"

His eyes bore into mine, forcing me to keep eye contact with him while he answered.

"I am in need of a place to stay for a while so that I may start up the branch of my business in Denver. I knew you moved here and thought it would be great to catch up with you again." He smiled down at me before quickly adding, "I will be helping you pay rent and maintain the cleanliness of the apartment during my stay here if you allow it."

The hopeful expression in his eyes only solidified the answer I was about to give him.

"Of course you can Seb." I smiled at him and widened the door, stepping out into the hallway. "Lets go get your bags and a key from the front office."

I never would have guessed that a simple act of kindness would change my world.
