I sighed and propped up on the bar stool. I just finished my shift and I was in serious need of a drink. Having to deal with ghetto ass girls for three hours is worst then dealing with one year olds. Always talking shit and get mad when someone tell them about themselves. I couldn't wait to get out of here.
"I saw you shaking that ass."
Raymond said, placing down a Highball. I took a sip and cringed a little at the bitter taste of the alcohol. Raymond always knew when I wasn't in the mood and he always knew the type of drink that would relax me a little.
"Thanks but you know you supposed to pay attention to the customers, not the dancers." I smirked.
"Girl please, I look at what I want. Hecker can't fire me for using my eyes."
Hecker was the owner of the club. He was always down his employee's throats whenever they were looking at the dancers. I guess he feels that if they not paying, they shouldn't be watching. Raymond was always rebelling against Raymond's wishes and Hecker could never fire him because Ray was his best bar tender.
"You better stop with all that cockiness. If you push his buttons all the time he will fire you." I took another sip.
"There you go sounding like Heckers Hoes. Always kissing his ass so he won't slap you around," he leaned foward on his elbows. "You know the only reason I like you is because you not like the rest of those hoes. You actually got more personality and not following no body. Stay like that."
He walked away to tend to the girl on the end of the bar. I finished my drink and left the club. I caught a taxi and directed him to my Grandma's house where I lived temporarily. I was saving up to get a small place so I could stop sneaking in and out.
About ten minutes later he pulled up at her house. I payed him twenty-five and got out the taxi, quickly walking to the porch. I took out my key and slowly opened the locks. I opened the door quietly and walked in, looking around to see if she was anywhere near. All the lights were off so that meant she was sleeping. I sighed and closed the door slowly, locking it back up.
"Jayda Nikita Diamonde? Please tell me thats a burgalar and not my damn grandaughter walking in here at one in the morning." Grandma came from the living room with her hand on her hips.
"Grandma, I just went out for a little jog, thats all."
"Don't lie to me, girl. You were no where to be found since nine. I saw you walk out this house and I waited for you to come back, four hours later. Where were you?"
"I just went out for a walk, grandma. Nothing big."
"Open the bag," She demanded. My body froze as I looked down at my bag. Shit, I thought to myself. If there was one thing I knew, it was that grandma looks at everything before giving up. "Open the bag."
I sighed and zipped open my bag. She stretched her arms out for me to hand it to her. I sucked my teeth and shoved the bag in her arms, pissed off that I was busted. She rummaged passed the loads of money and snatched out the lingerie I used for the night. She held it up and looked at me with a face full of disgust. I looked up with tears welling in my eyes, ashamed.
"I raised you in the church. In the church, Jayda! This is how you repay me for taking you in when your momma ain't want you?" she threw it at me.
"Grandma I'm tired of living here! I'm tired of living under your rules! I do it so I can move out of here." I admitted.
"Girl what happened to going to college and getting a degree? The right way to get along in this world. All stripping gonna get you is some man to come and rape you, knock you up and leave you broker then you are now. You wanna end up like your mother?"
"No."
"So stop going down her path. Only reason I ain't kicking you out is because I know you have no where else to go. I want you to make up enough money to get your own place. But once you got that set and done," she stepped up closer to me.
"I want you out of my house. Understand?"
I looked at her as a tear strolled down my eye. I wiped it and stared at her with resentment. "Gladly."

My father pulled up his pants as he stared down at me. He smirked and smacked my face too times before leaving my room. I rolled my eyes and scoffed in disgust. He's been raping me ever since my mother ended up in the hospital. She's been in there for three weeks and left my little sister and I in his care. More like in my care---he doesn't give two shits about us. All he does is get drunk and carries his wasted ass in my room doing whatever he wanted with me. Only reason I don't fight back as much is because he always keeps a knife in his back pocket. I would let him take my life, but I'm the only person distracting him from turning to my little sister, Sudana. I'm the only person she has and if I don't watch out for her, he's going to do the same evil things to her. I could never sleep without waking every thirty minutes to check on her.
"Sudana!" I heard him yell. I sat up in my bed and looked at Sudana through her bedroom door. Our bedrooms were diagnol from each other and her bed was in perfect view. My father drunkenly walked over to her bedroom and leaned on her door frame. "Yes?"
"Come satisfy daddy." He chuckled and closed the door. I stood up from my bed and walked over to her door, listening in. I could hear him unbuckling his belt and dropping his pants. "No, please leave me alone!" I heard her scream.
"Shut up!" I heard a loud smack. I bursted inside the room and pushed him away from her.
"Leave her alone!" I yelled. He swung his hand across my face, sending me straight down to the floor.
"Mind your damn business."
He climbed on top of my sister and pinned her hands down. She screamed for help. I looked at his pants and saw the knife sticking out of the back pocket. I grabbed it and jabbed it in his back. Sudana screamed as he got up to retaliate. "Fucking bitch!"
He prepared to slap me again as I jabbed the knife in his heart. He froze in his position and opened his eyes wider, staring at me. I took the knife out as he collapsed on the floor. Blood pooled out from his wound as he lied still on the ground.
I grabbed Sudana and pulled her into a tight hug. She cried hard as we both stared at our father limp and lifeless on the ground. "You killed him..."
I looked down at her and knelt to her level. "You can't tell anyone, okay?"
"You killed him, Ethi!" she yelled once more.
"I know. Go in my room and go to sleep. Shut the door and keep your mouth shut. Understand?" I asked. She stayed silent as tears ran down her cheeks. "Understand?" I yelled more firmly.
She nodded and ran into my room, sliding the door closed. I stood up and stared down at my father. I shook my head and down at him.
"Go to hell."
