Airlia
I was in my first class of the day listening to my teacher explain all the big projects we had for the remaining time of the school year. It was a lot to take in so instead of interacting with the class about how I feel, I just looked out the window watching how all the cars stopped as the kids crossed the street. How they were all soo happy not knowing about the dangers of the real world. Life is a fantasy for them.
When I was younger my parents always read to me whenever they could. As a fetus in my moms stomach they read to me. When I was born they said it was one of the happiest moments of their life. My mom tried to have kids for a long time soo having me was a miracle. Growing up as a young child I was the model kid. Everyone saw me listening, learning, and most of all smiling. I'm not saying that I'm not those things now, but as you get older your view on things change. As does your perspective on life. So as I'm watching these kids cross the street it makes me think how I used to be. When life was simpler. I didn't have a care in the world. The only thing I wanted to do was please my parents and basically all the adults and human beings around me. This went on for a while, but nothing last too long. I was brought out of my daze by my teacher.
"Does everyone understand what I just said. Airlia are you listening, or do you have something you would like to share with the class?" I turned my head, facing a perplexed English teacher and a class of resentful faces.
I looked down at my hands, now intertwined with each other. Then looked back up at my teacher waiting for an answer. I felt my eyes get heavy. Since I was wearing glasses it wasn't that noticeable, but the tears slowly started to run down my face one by one.
"Ms.Rose are you ready to speak now?" I cleared my throat allowing words to flow out of it. Looked back at the teacher and spoke.
"I'm sorry, what was the question again." I said
"Thank you for speaking now I'm going to move on with the class." My English teacher said.
I nodded my head in agreement even tho I was on the verge of tears once again. I was humiliated for the 100th time due to the fact that, after I spoke up I heard my classmates chuckling under their breath. Some even let words come out. That made the situation even worse. Now I have something else that everyone will talk about behind my back.
I'm almost done with my classes before lunch. I'm on my last class before our break. Towards the end the teacher told me to come up to the board. Since we were in math you have to get up and participate more than any other classes.
"Airlia are you gonna come to the board? If not points will be deducted from your grade." My teacher said. I slowly brought my hands to my desk and made an attempt to get up. However, when I started to stand up I heard chuckles and whispers. Then I noticed I went the wrong way getting up and tripped over the support for the desk. I wanted to run out the class then and there, but if I did it would just prove what everyone thought about me. So I got up and went the right way this time. Made my way to the board and picked up the chalk with a shaky hand doing the problem. As soon as I brought my hand to the board the teacher came behind me, got close to my ear and said " Are you okay? If not you can leave and go to another room."
As soon as I heard those words I dropped the chalk and ran out the classroom. I was finally breaking down after always appearing perfect. I ran down the hallways tears dropping down my face. I noticed the stares of my other peers and sped up. Finally, I reached the two front doors and pushed the metal part soo hard you heard it crack. I kept running until I made it to the end of the block. Once I was there I stopped to call my mom to come and pick me up. As soon as I brought the phone to my hand tho it was suddenly smacked away from me and on the ground. I looked back to see who it was, and when I finally realized I thought there was no way this day could get worse it did....
