Anastasia
I wish I could say this was a boring tale, but I'd be lying. Would you like to know what is boring? Mrs. Flemming's Health class. I'm struggling to stay awake during her absurd lesson of... well, who knows what, I'm not paying attention.
I inhale intensely, catching a whiff of the foul air. It smells of rotten milk, absolutely astounding. It's what the janitors used to clean the graffiti off the walls of the school. Not rotten milk, but a strong chemical of some sort that smells of it. Smells awful, nonetheless. Some students used a type of paint to scribble rumors about specific teens in the school. Most of them are probably true. A few read: Amber D'Alessio made out with a hot dog, Dawn Schweitzer is a fat virgin, And I saw my name on there, but I was too scared to check what it said. Hopefully, it wasn't too bad. These Juniors are ruthless. I don't mind too much. I stick to what's important; making it out alive and unnoticed. The "unnoticed" part isn't going too well so far, I guess.
My thoughts were interrupted by my Health teacher calling my name. Crap. I wasn't paying attention to the lesson.
"Ana, dear, will you read the next line?" She starts the sentence off for me from the whiteboard, "It is important to..."
"Oh, uh, sure. It is important to not forget to..." Oh, lovely. It's about... protection. Oh, dear. "Forget to use protection whilst doing intercourse. Forgetting so could lead to embarrassing trips to the hospital over diseases you don't want, along with unwanted children. In fact, just don't participate in any intercourse or you will surely die."
I hear snickering coming from all around the room. Why did I have to be the one to read this? It must be sex ed day. I sigh deeply and sink into my seat.

The next morning was Saturday. I woke up to the sound of my phone going off about a few dozen times. I sit up to find the bright, blinding ray of sunshine glaring into my eyes, probably forever blinding me.
I checked my phone to see that the person texting me was my friend, Averi.8:12 a.m. Yo, wake up, we gotta leave by 11.
8:14 a.m. Ana?
8:36 a.m. WAKE UP!!
9:13 a.m. If you arent awake by the time i get to your house, which will be at 10, Im leaving without you.I got about 4 missed calls and few more texts demanding I wake up. It's currently 9:50 a.m. I hear the door open, knowing it was Averi, I grabbed a pair of pants (without actually putting them on) and headed to the kitchen.
"Hey. Nice pants, they give you a nice figure." She mocks the fact I am not wearing pants, just an oversized T-shirt that has a picture of the Mona Lisa on it. I look like a hot mess, my chocolate brown roots and dirty blonde hair tied up in a messed up ponytail, strands everywhere.
"Thanks," I reply.
She grabs a vanilla yogurt from my fridge and we head back to my room. I turn my pants that I had been holding the right way and slip them on. Moment of truth... I slide my hands down where pockets should be, and luckily enough, they have pockets. Not very deep, but pockets nonetheless.
I slide my shirt off and toss it onto the floor. While I am getting changed, Averi is sitting at my vanity scrolling through Instagram.
"Hey, how far away is the park?" I ask my friend.
"About an hour. As soon as you're ready we can leave."
Averi and I are doing what she has been begging me to do for a long time: explore an abandoned amusement park. We're going to one called "Pripyat Amusement Park". It's been abandoned for years. I did some research on it, and the pictures I had found were absolutely wretched. the place had been overgrown with ferns, trees, flowers, and other plants. The ferris wheel is as crooked as the leaning tower of Pisa. It appeared to be in the middle of nowhere, and completely empty. Not a single soul is there. But soon enough, Averi and I will be.

We've been in the car for about 45 minutes, so we should be 15 or so minutes away. Averi is the one driving, i'm sitting in the passenger seat. I have my headphones on as i stare out of the window, admiring the beautiful trees. We are currently driving through a forest type place, so I can see plenty of tall, narrow trees stretching out their scrawny arms. My eyes dance around the forest, and i come across a sight that made me sit up and take a closer look. The car isn't going very fast, someone could jog and catch up to us. I could have sworn I saw someone in the forest, some dark figure or something. I ignore it, it is probably my mind playing tricks on me. There is no one here.
"Woah," Averi says as she pulls the car to a complete stop. "Did you see that?"
I look at her, puzzled. Then I realized something; she could be talking about the figure I saw in the trees. "See what, exactly?"
"I thought I saw someone in the trees. I slowed down to get a better look. Oh shoot. It looks like they're coming toward us!"
"Drive! Who knows what kind of psycho that could be!"
But right as she's starting to get away from whoever it is in this forest, they appear at my window. It's a man. He is very dirty, and appears to have. crazed look in his eyes. He smiles and reveals his yellow stained teeth. His clothes are quite dusty, as if he was rolling around in the dry dirt. He finally knocks on the window politely.
"Should I roll the window down and see what he wants? Maybe he was lost and stranded out here all alone." I whisper to my friend.
"Umm.. sure, I guess."
I roll it down and ask what he needs.
"Hello, miss. I was hoping you could lend me your phone, perhaps. I've been lost here for a day or so, and I need to reach out to my daughter to come pick me up, I don't know what I'd do if I was alone out here one more night!"
