| CHAPTER ONE |

LEGOLAS POV:

Today was the day.
Today was the funeral.
No.
I'm not okay with this...he's not gone.

I'm walking down the hall and looking around crying, shaking and not wanting to admit to myself that my best friend, soulmate and the man that I'd die for within matter of seconds was gone.

I remember the day I found him dead...very vividly.

2 MONTHS AGO

I'm walking to Aragorn's room to wake him up, hoping that he's still there.
The last few days I've spent pacing back and forth in my room, knowing that these are Aragorn's last days.

Walking into him room I walk over to him bed...
No.
His skin...
wight as paper.
His hands...
Cold as ice.

"NO! ARAGORN PLEASE! GET UP! NO, no NO!"
I yell. Gimli, Frodo, Sam, Marry, pippin and Gandalf come running in.
"PLEASE LET THIS BE A JOKE!" I cry turning around and looking at them. Gandalf walks over to Aragorn's lifeless body and holds his hand.
"Oh dear lord..." he whispers.
"ARAGORN!!" I scream and fall to my knees, tears streaming down my face like waterfalls.

"Legolas...?" Gimli says softly, walking up to me. I look up at him.
"Hey...are you ready?" He asks me.
I sigh and nod.
I walk with him to Aragorn's funeral and I look inside the casket.
His eyes...
Shut.
His hair...
Gray...
Everyone's eyes are on me, as I'm about to give my speech.
I take a deep breath...

"Aragorn...I miss you already. You weren't supposed to leave me that day. I remember the night before...you passed, we were talking about how we would go on a walk together, in the woods..."
I take a deep breathe once more as I can feel the tears coming down.
"You were so excited to go look for mushrooms and strawberries...
that's so unfair. You left this place without your berries...so, I got them for you." I take out a gar of strawberries from the forest and put it next to his hands, so it looks like he's holding it. "I cant explain how painful this is for me. Aragorn, you changed me as a Person and I'll never be able to thank you enough for what you've done for me..." Tears keep falling down. "You have never understood how much you meant for me, and still do. I promised you I'd never leave your side, so I never will.
Gi melin, Aragorn...." I look up at the sky and take a very deep breath knowing I will start to fall apart.
"You came into my life when I was someone I didn't want to be. You saved my life, love. You really did. I remember...I remember the day we found each other...you were apparently looking for me as well as soon as you found out that I was looking for you. You were so young... only In your late 20s. You are 2010 now...can you imagine how long we have known each other? From the day I meet you I decided that I'd follow you until you die...and I obviously kept that promise because here we are..." Tears come falling. "What am I supposed to do now, Aragorn? Am I supposed to go back to Mirkwood? Because you are all I've  ever known outside of my fathers home. Where do you want me to go? What do you expect me to be able to do? I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to live without you now...
You can't leave me like this! Please, come back! Please, don't...be dead."
I stand up and walk away to a tree, lay down by it as the tears come falling like waterfalls again.
A few minutes later Gandalf comes up to me with the little hobbits behind him.
"Legolas..." He starts. I look up at him, my eyes all swollen from the crying. "I know this is a stupid question, but...are you okay?"
"Yeah you're right. That is a stupid question. You know the answer."
"Legolas..." Sam starts, "look...we're all hurting. But at least now boromir isn't alone!" I looked at Sam.
"At least..." I whisper.
