Once Akaashi reached Elementary school Bokuto was always around him. He didn't want anybody else to sit with Akaashi because apparently, the short boy was his. They both had many sleepovers at Bokuto's place due to Akaashi's parents hating the noise they made.
------------ time skip bc why not ----------Akaashi was in his last year of middle school which meant he had to go camping as a field trip. He was nervous about going at first but he relaxed once he found out he can bring Bokuto as a guest. Akaashi was a quiet person so he didn't tell his parents. Not like they will care anyway...
"Hey, Akaashi! Do you have everything packed?" The taller boy asked as he waves at Akaashi's parents. The shorter boy shook his head and walked up to his room. He opened his bag and he kept looking at the things he had.
" Akaashi you don't have Mr.Skittles?" Akaashi looked at the owl plushie that was in the corner. "Oh, I forgot it! But won't people make fun of me if they see me cuddling with this....?" Bokuto's eyes shot up with anger. He hated how people picked on Akaashi just because he didn't talk much. He shook his head and slowly put the plushie in the bag. " Bokuto...Are you sure you can come?" the shorter boy was nervous, he started fidgeting with his fingers while taking short glances at Bokuto. Koutarou smiled and hugged Akaashi, resting his head on the shorter boy's head. "I promised I'll be by your side, so of course I'll go! We are going camping!" Akaashi felt his heart pounding, his breath shaking, his legs feeling weak, his cheeks flushing red. Right, just last year Akaashi found out about these weird feelings he felt when he was around Bokuto. His heart always pounded when he made physical contact with Bokuto. His cheeks flushed red every time he saw the boy and when they were alone he had trouble breathing. He shrugged these feelings off till they started happening more frequently. What hurts him the most was that Bokuto Koutarou...the boy Akaashi fell in love with always liked girls. He talked about girls he liked and wanted to meet. This hurt Akaashi so much but like a true best friend he denied his feelings towards this boy.
" Akaashi, It's getting late... Can I stay tonight or are your parents going to be home?" Akaashi looked up at Bokuto and shot him a wide smile. "They'll leave sooner or later but they won't mind you staying tonight. You are coming with me to school so that's another reason." Bokuto let out a deep breath before jumping on Akaashi's bed. The bed wasn't that big but they always managed to fit. Akaashi would sleep on top of Bokuto to make it manageable. The black-haired boy grabbed his owl plushie and got on top of Bokuto. He got comfortable and cuddled his plushie and fell asleep while Bokuto read a manga novel.
2:56 am
Akaashi woke up feeling thirsty. He carefully got up and walked downstairs where he hears some type of silent shouting. He hid in the dark trying to listen to what was going on.
" You're wasting the money Aito! Can't you see we can barely afford the bills?!" Akaashi's mom yelled as she threw away many pills and beers. " You don't work enough for it! I don't even know why we got married if you can't keep your promise." The dad shouted grabbing another bottle of beer. Akaashi never saw this happen before. Tears formed in his eyes and he slowly took steps backward, he hit something that seemed like a wall. He then felt arms wrap around his body, Bokuto was hugging him tightly. Akaashi turned around burying his face in Bokuto's chest. Tears streamed down his cheeks. Have his parent always fought like this? Did they keep this away from him? Where they hiding the fact they were going broke?Bokuto picked Akaashi up bridal style and took him quietly back to the room. He laid Akaashi down and sat next to him. " Hey, it's okay. I'm right here Akaashi...." Akaashi hugged Bokuto's arm tightly, slowly closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep. Bokuto rested his head on Akaashi's and thought how would he make Akaashi happy tomorrow? Should he sing him a song? Should they watch movies? All of these questions rushed through his mind not noticing that Akaashi moved away from him. Akaashi looked peaceful and beautiful sleeping, almost like an angel.
"Akaashi, Hurry, or we will miss the bus to the field trip!" Akaashi groaned and opened his eyes just to see Bokuto on top of him. His breath hitched and he can feel his cheeks burning hot. "Bokuto-san.. You're squishing me-" Bokuto laughed and sat on the side of the bed as he watched Akaashi get up. " What even is this camp anyway?" Akaashi shrugged and started picking out his outfit. He saw that Bokuto was wearing a black sweater, light blue jeans, and some air forces with jewelry. He looked at his outfit which was almost the same but just a white sweater and a friendship necklace. " We're going matching??" Akaashi smiled widely and nodded. He let out a quiet giggle before going into the bathroom to change. Bokuto carried the luggage to the living room and saw Akaashi's parents.
Normally they would be working in their computers but this time they seemed tired. Akaashi's mom's eyes were swollen and her nose was a little runny. Bokuto was worried but he started smiling once Akaashi came downstairs with his little backpack. "I'm ready! Bye guys." His voice tone seemed to lower when he said goodbye to his parents. Bokuto waved goodbye and walked beside Akaashi to the bus stop. He saw how Akaashi was nervous but he seemed happy either way.
