Spoiler warnings: I highly suggest for you to finish reading stone ocean though the spoilers in this one-shots are quite small.

A/N: Got inspired by this song to write a one-shot for Jotaro since the song talked about cigarettes which reminded me of him.

(F/n) stared at the calendar hung across the clean white wall, a heavy feeling weighing down in her chest.

It had been exactly five days since he had left, five days since the divorce files were processed and truth to be told, she wasn't handling it that well.

For the first two days, it was hard for her to get a night's rest. The bed suddenly felt too large for her to sleep in, too quiet without his heavy snoring, too cold without his warmth. These tiny little details served as a painful reminder of how he is gone.

"Mom?"

With the door now wide opened, the little girl stood inside the room, her light green eyes glazing across her mom's figure.

"Yes, Joylne?"

(F/n) turned her head towards the little girl, shooting her a questioning look.

" I'm hungry, " She mumbled, fidgeting her own fingers as she shifted her weight from side to side. "I also wanna eat with you tonight."

Upon hearing her statement,  (F/n) let out a sigh as the corners of her mouth stretched into a smile.

My sweet little girl Joylne, I swear I'll try my best to make it up for you.

"Okay dear, I promise to eat with you but you can go down ahead since-" She gestured to the pile of papers strewn across the floor- "I still have some things to fix."

"O-okay..." Joylne mumbled, hesitation evident in her tone.

The little girl turned back and then with a small click! She closed the door of the room, leaving as the sound of her footsteps became softer and softer before disappearing.

(F/n) let out a huff of annoyance as she rubbed her own temples, irritated at herself for being such a weak figure for her daughter.

"What am I doing?" She mumbled to herself.

"I should get my shit together for Joylne, she doesn't need a mother that is moping around."

She let out a huff of air then with her two hands, she slapped her own cheeks, leaving a painful  stinging sensation.

The pain seemed to snap her out of those depressing thoughts as it served a tiny reminder on how she should keep her head up high. With him gone doesn't mean that she had lost her way, but reminded her that life will always have obstacles you struggle to overcome.

(F/n) stood up and started picking up the piles of paper scattered on the floor, her sense of responsibility fueling herself to take small steps to live a life without him.

" Okay, this goes here-" She gathered the scattered divorce papers on the floor, organizing them before inserting them to a folder in a bookshelf.

After finishing that task, (F/n) noticed that there was still a bunch of spare papers scattered near his study desk.

Jotaro's work desk

" And then-" she gathered the remaining papers then pulls open a drawer, ready to place them inside but her whole body froze as her eyes landed on a familiar looking box lying inside.

It's Jotaro's favorite brand of cigarette.

She bit her lower lip as she took it out of the drawer, staring at the battered carton box. Her fingers ran gently against the box. She then pondered on the countless times she has reprimanded him for smoking in places that he shouldn't be.
