Author's Note: HELLO EVERYONE! As you may know, this is my first fan fiction. Well, at least the first one I don't plan on deleting. I wasn't a very good writer before, and not that I am now, but I've definately gotten... er... better. So I really hope you enjoy because I really want to try to finish this story since I've never done that. I also really have to thank @ampersandsign (and sorry that I've rewritten it since you read it, I made it really similar though) so friggin' much for all that she has done. I'm positive that if she had never talked to me I probably wouldn't be publishing this. She gave me a lot of encouragement and I'm so glad I got to talk to her, so please go check out her stories, they are AMAZING. They're all Larry and since everyone loves Larry, I suggest you read them. She is a truly brilliant writer. Okay, enough with the thank you's.
Also before you start reading, this is a boyxboy story, so if you don't like that, please leave, or don't, because I'm sure that most people can come to love boyxboy stories. ;) Also, this story is completely fictional, as most of you know. I don't own any of these people, or have anything to do with their lives. If some of the situations in this story are true, which I'm highly positive they aren't, it is purely coincidental.
The gif on the side is basically how old Harry looks throughout the rest of the story after this chapter.
Sorry for the long author's note. Here is the story. :)
And sorry that the first chapter is so long. I really needed to get it all in since most of the story is going to be based on the camp. I tried to make it as short as possible, and but that's obviously hard when you want to squeeze many years of someone's life into a single chapter.
----------
I was five when my parents died. At the time, I had no clue what was happening then. But I remember the night like the first line of Moby-Dick. It was the middle of summer, my dad had just driven me home from my football game, and I was licking on a vanilla ice cream cone.
"Daddy, why does the sun go away at night?" I asked curiously, kicking my exposed legs in the back seat. My dad glanced at the rear view mirror to get a look at me, before focusing his eyes back on the road. He sighed deeply, rolling his shoulders slightly.
"Well, just like everyone the sun has to sleep too. He goes to sleep so he can have enough energy to brighten everyone's day tomorrow." My father lied, always having been one to come up with the far fetched answers to my scientific questions.
I went along with it, being the gullible five year old I was. Although gullibleness did usually come with youth, and I wasn't any out of the ordinary at the time. But the only boys I talked to were the ones on my football team. There was only one other boy on my street who was around my age, and our mums were friends, but they never really introduced us.
"But why do the clouds block the sun all the time?" I suddenly asked, the thought having crossed my mind in a second, like most things did.
"The sun is the clouds secret. When the cloud decides that enough people have been good enough, he reveals the secret." He said once more, pulling into our driveway. I happily hopped out, finishing the last bite of my ice cream cone. I walked on my cleats to the front door, where my mum was waiting, a bright smile on her face.
"How did the game go?" She asked, motioning for me to sit down so she could take my football gear off of my legs.
"We won 4-2." I replied proudly, sticking my one leg on her knee. She peeled off the cleats, my socks following, along with my shin guards last. She congratulated me on my victory, saying that I might be able to be a huge football star one day. I smiled at the thought, imagining running out on the field with my other team members, smiling and soaking in the loud screams of the crowd, sweat rolling down my forehead as I kicked the ball past the goalie and straight into the netting, the blue and gold sphere moving far back into the net before collapsing on the ground, the crowd screaming at the top of their lungs and jumping up and down.
