I quickly looked over to Liam, a sense of worry washing over me. Ed already had his back turned to us, hastily heading back to wherever he came from. I began running after him, Liam  two steps behind me. We had went back to where we started, the infirmary. Ed led us through the hallway and into a room all the way in the back.

He pushed through the heavy wooden door, making a loud squeaking sound errupt through the hall. I could see the end of a bed and two shoe-clad feet, but the rest of the body was being blocked by two impatient nurses, who were hunched over him, bickering in hushed tones. Ed stood behind them, looking scared.

"What happened?" I whisper-screamed to Ed, my eyes wide.

"Him and Andy were being idiots... he'll be fine, but I think he got injured pretty bad. They went down to the lake really early in the morning when no counselors were out to go canoeing, and apparently Maz's canoe flipped. Andy barely managed to get out of his canoe and rescue him in time... you know how canoe's basically keep you in a death grip... and so I guess when he got Maz back to shore he had passed out from the lack of oxygen."

My eyes were kept wide the whole story, surprised they would do something like that without any supervision. One of the nurses left, giving me a better view of Maz. I felt my stomach toss at the sight in front of me. I knew he would be fine, but the whole "hospital/hooked up to an IV" thing freaked me out so much. He was laying back on the uncomfortable looking brown cot, his eyes closed, his lips looking like they were just turning back to normal after being blue, My stomach twisted in knots and I left the room, Ed following quickly behind me, leaving Liam alone with a sleeping Maz.

"Where's Andy?" I asked through the thick air that filled the hallway.

"Back porch. He couldn't handle it..."

I cautiously opened the door at the end of the hallway, opposite of the one that led to the office, figuring it went outside. There was a screen porch, much like the one in front of all the cabins, but this one looked a lot nicer. Andy was sat on a small cushioned couch, his face in his hands, his whole body hunched over. I sat next to him, carefully placing a hand on his shoulder.

"He's gonna be fine, y'know." I started slowly.

"I know-- it, it was just the whole sight. I mean, it scared me so much, his eyes-- they were rolling back, and his lips, they looked purple. It looked like a scene from a horror movie... I thought I hated him. I don't know why this made me so scared." He confessed, his voice filled with more emotion than I'd ever heard out of him. And he was quite an open guy.

"I know... sometimes you don't realize that something existed until it's gone... I mean... nevermind. He'll be okay." I assured, the words spilling out of my mouth before I could think them over. I just wanted to check up on him, but I probably should have had thought of some things to say since I was never good at instant conversation.

Luckily just as I was going to attempt to continue the conversation Ed called us in, telling us it was time for breakfast to my relief. As he said this I heard my stomach grumble, and I only just realized that I had been starving since I woke up.

"I think I'm going to stay back here..." Andy said as we walked past Maz's room in the hallway, his large hand sat on the doorknob to his room.

"You sure? We can bring you some food if you want." Liam suggested, worried for his new friend.

"Not hungry. Just go."

Liam sighed, walking back to the cafeteria with us. Breakfast was silent, awkward. Word was spreading around the camp already over what happened, thanks to a certain loud mouth who goes by the name of Louis. I felt a little bad for Maz, all the shit he would have to go through once he woke up.
