Surmount

Dark... Black... Blank... words swirled in her mind, filling it with darkness themed words. She felt like being vacuumed into the pitch black hole, never had the thought of a success in escaping passed her mind, as if being sucked into a black quicksand.

The boy with the glimmering black pearls waved a hand infront of her face, her heterochromatic irises to be precise. The ravenette was then brought back from her world into what she would call the world as reality. What seemed to her was eternity vanished just like that into the thin air and realization hit her that she was staring at him for only several seconds.

“Earth to Ophelia, earth to Ophelia, could you hear me, Ophelia?” Excidio asked in a jesting manner as a playful grin decorated his face. The girl who he called scrunched up her nose, her blue and green orbs was filled with annoyance. She glared at him with a frown as a complementary to her facial features.

The teen she was staring at only diverted his gaze, from her pale face onto their still clasped hands. Ophelia, still being rather annoyed, reluctantly followed his gaze, trailing the invisible dots only to be surprised as she had completely forgotten and oblivious that they’re still holding hands. As quick as her realization, she retracted her hand, leaving the warmth of the boy’s hand. Her once pale skin changed it’s colour to a deep shade of red as she averted her gaze in embarrassment. Finding the wall was much more interesting.

The nurse, being completely forgotten by the two friends –at least that’s what they looked like, and being invisible as if the white wall and uniform could camouflage her, seeing that their little reunion was finally finished, decided to speak up,

“Well miss, as I’ve checked your condition for the last time and had not seen any serious threat, you may go home for maybe it would help you regain your memory.” Her lips curved into a thin smile, pleasantly happy for her as the girl was in a surprisingly good condition to even go back to he respective house.

After the brunette’s lips was closed once more and she had already lifted a foot to take a step back and retreated to her precious post and other works, a hand caught the hem of her white fabric.

“Wait,” Ophelia said, the fabric was still placed between her slender fingers. The nurse stopped her track and turned her body around to face her completely due to respect for the patient. Her hazel orbs stared at the ravenette in confusion as she waited patiently for the girl that was under her observation to speak her thoughts. Not long, her lips finally parted, “What happened to me?”

“Looks like you were caught in an accident. This boy had found you lying unconscious and brought you here.” She said.

“O..Oh...” The ravenette’s hand relaxed, casually releasing the white fabric that was crumpled up because of her sudden act, dropping itself onto the white sheet with a low thud.

The nurse gave one last smile and a bow before turning her back and exited the little white room. Although Ophelia didn’t pay any heed onto the brunette as her blue and green eyes was filled with paranoia and fear once more.

The teen with the jet black hair sighed and moved from his previous spot to her front, casually leaning into her face, stopping for only inches apart their face were.

“Oi... Ophelia, snap out of it. You can go home now, didn’t you hear?” He said, flicking her forehead lightly in hope of returning her back.

“Hey!” She threw a complain, the train of thoughts met a wall and was forgotten by her the moment he brought her back along with the reasons as why it had been riding the trails. Her right hand reached out to cover up her forehead.

“You’re riding the train of thoughts too frequently,” he reasoned, a serious tone filled his words and facial features as a frown complemented his features. He pointed at a duffle bag, neatly placed on a table, “I’ve brought you changes of clothes.”

Her heterochromatic orbs traced his hand before they landed onto the black duffle. She was going to scurried in to grab it, but remembered about the IV line that had been attached to her hand.

Carefully, she peeled the bandage off and pulled the needle out from her flesh. She then threw it ontop of once was her bed. The owner of the blue and green eyes shifted to the edge of the bed, ready to test out her heels that hadn’t been used for months.

As her fingers enwithed onto the bed’s white bar, she put all of her body weight to her feet, only to stumble backwards.  First try... It was only the first try...she convinced herself, repeating the words like a mantra. Second try...

The ravenette tried again and met the success, although still stumbling and haven’t found the equilibrium of her balance. Her lips curved upwards into a thin smile as she walked towards her duffle bag. Reaching out to her bag, she looked back at him from her shoulder, “don’t peek.”

The teen obliged, turning his body around as he gave the ravenette some privacy. Several minutes passed and the ravenette had finished changing, she asked him, “should we wait for the doctor?”

“Nah, that wouldn’t be needed. By the way, how about a shortcut?”

The ravenette stared in confusion, “Shortcut?”

“Mhm...” he hummed a reply as he opened the window and jumped out of the frame. Surprised, the girl grabbed the bag and rushed to the window, searching for him.

Much to her surprise, he stared at her, for they’re on the first floor to her luck.

“Well? Aren’t you going to climb?” He asked, reaching his hand out.
