Rightful Honor

Chapter 2 - Strange encounter

She looked around the valley, it was so peaceful and calm. She took a deep breath before looking at the moon in the sky. It was midnight and almost 20 hours of her punishment. She wanted to shift for a while but couldn't as she didn't brought her clothes with her. She had shifted in heat of moment causing her clothes to tear apart. She shook her head and ran along with borders to check the security. Their pack was largest among all the packs in the world in terms of land as well as in  the wolves numbers. She loved her pack if only they did the same. She sighed and was slowing towards the valley when she smelt something off.

This was odd because this terrain was isolated and no pack resides there and no other creatures can live in that place. She looked around with her sharpened gaze only to found two pairs of  red eyes looking towards pass which is one of the way to enter in the western border of the pack.

Rogues.

She quickly mind linked her beta and gamma "beta tarun.. gamma Narendra.. there are two rogues on western border near white mountain.. send back up"  she didn't waited for their reply and  sprinted in the direction of rogues. Her blood boiled at the thought of that night... No... She won't let it happen again. Khushi hid behind a bush to see their movements to attack but halted when she realised there was one more wolf behind them with strange eyes and to her surprise there was no scent of him. He can mask scent. But they were not doing anything.

Khushi didn't waited more as she growled loudly making them alert for her presence. The grey wolf looked at her with menacing look and growled back while the other two brown wolf stepped behind the grey one. She growled more loudly to make them shift. The brown wolves flinched their eyes while grey one stepped forward and shifted into human form not bothering about his nakedness.

"Well... Look who is here... The one we were looking for..you have grown up very well I can see.. He will be happy to know about it" he said slyly moving closer to her making her took defensive stance.

Khushi didn't know what he was talking about and how he know her but she was clear it wasn't good. She wanted to know more but soon she heard footsteps running towards her. Her pack members were coming. The guy smiled some more.

"You can't protect it anymore child..." He looked to his guys "have fun and come back. My work is done" he said and sprinted off after shifting towards the other side and those two wolves jumped on her for attack.

Seriously?  was her only thought before they circled her to attack her as one of them leaped towards her leg and other went for her front. She jumped back in time before they get her trapped. They growled and tried to  attack on her neck. That was enough for her.. if they had death wish so be it. She growled loudly before leaping towards one of them on his legs biting off a huge chunk of mass making him roll down. She went for other one to kick him back which made him fall on back and before he could think she went for his neck sinking her canines deep enough for kill. She threw his now dead body away.

The other wolf tried to make hit again but she dived down and clawed him across making him injured enough to be captured in cell. She growled loudly and found five wolves already behind her and they flinched at her growl and bowed their neck as her eyes glowed with a golden ring around her black pupil. She calmed down a little to see her friends.

They shifted and wore clothes. The girls among them came forward with khushi clothes but khushi went to small lake to clean her mouth stained with blood before shifting behind the bushes. One girl kept her clothes by the bushes having a normal top and knee length bottoms. She quickly wore  clothes and went where all were waiting.

" Are you okay khushi? Who are they?Did they hurt you anywhere?" The girl asked worried.

"Oh please.. Amala" said her twin Nandkishore "can't you see they are rogues. One is dead and other is almost dead? And who can touch our khushi... she is best at it...even though she doesn't show it" he said proudly.

Amar was quietly watching khushi expression "what's the matter khushi? Is there something else we need to know?"

"It seems all odd to me" khushi said not wanting to tell the details yet.

"How they reached this terrain?" Amar questioned.

"And for what they have come here for? There is no pack around miles away and no habitable zone?" Aman, the other guy, questioned after looking around the area.

"Khushi are you ok?" Amala asked again keeping her hand on her shoulder as she somehow understand her feelings right now.

"Beta and gamma are coming... How you guys are here before them?" Khushi asked them while searching around that injured wolf.

"Dad and gamma mind linked all of us but since we were on rounds towards north already so we took the lead and came here." Nandkishore explained.

"We followed the trails you left for us" filled in the other girl Nisha.

They heard more paws running towards them and soon they were facing beta, gamma and pack warriors.

"Take him for the treatment.. we need some answers from that rogue.." Beta ordered his pack warriors. Tarun came towards khushi with Narendra. "What happened here?"

"I was on my duty towards mountain when I smelled rogues and came here tracking them. I informed you both before coming here. They attacked me and...."

"Why you didn't waited for our reply?" Tarun asked cutting her explanation

"I couldn't wait.."

"When will you stop being reckless khushi?" Tarun shouted at her

Khushi wanted to answer back but she knew it will might lead her to more problems and she didn't want to tell them about the other wolf and his talks until she investigate it herself.

"I guess you didn't learn from that incident? Do you want that to happen again?" Narendra said disappointed.

Amar wanted to say something but Aman and Nandkishore stopped him.

Tarun eyes glazed over for a while "Alpha wants you at home."

"But my punishment.." she tried reason.

"You have blocked your mind link. He must be worried for you. Talk to him right now". Tarun stopped her explanation.

Khushi hid her uneasiness and nodded. Tarun and Narendra instructed pack warriors to take security check on the borders and report to Alpha office.

Everyone dispersed while Amar, Aman, Nandkishore, Amala and Nisha stayed with khushi accompanying her back.

"I can't beleive he said that again" amar fumed at Tarun and Narendra

"It's ok brother.. it's true anyways" khushi said trying to calm her cousin brother.

"It's not true..." Nandkishore also sided with Amar as Aman tried to calm both of them.

As they started for their home Amala held khushi hand and tried to mind link her which she had blocked. Amala  got confused and signalled her same after which khushi nodded and opened her mind link.

"Khushi are you ok?"

"Yes"

"Why I feel you are hiding something? Khushi we trust you always. What happened that night had nothing to do with you. You are our next leader no matter who says what"

Khushi looked at her smiling little

"Anyways beta is right in some part. Alpha must be worried for you and Luna must have gone crazy for your safety... Even though they don't need to but still they are your parents...
And you know there is a meeting of packs soon. I am sure you will find your soulmate in that meeting then everything will be fine...." She said smiling at her then looked ahead

Khushi stopped hearing another voice screaming in her mind just then
"How dare you blocked me? Come to my chamber right now?"
"Khushi..I will try my best my darling" came another soft voice in her head.

Khushi gulped down her emotions I don't want a soulmate...ever...
she thought before sprinting towards her reality..
