TW: this chapter will discuss suicide

The two young detectives arrived at the scene. They got out of the blonde's car and walked over the nearest officer, who directed them to the body. Samantha looked around and noticed a certain Head Detective missing.

"Hey, McNab, where's Lassiter?"
Said cop turned at his name, "Um, I believe he is getting coffee."
"Thanks."

The young man smiled, excited to have helped. The brunette turned to her friend, "If I had known Lassiter wanted a coffee, I would've invited him," she spoke as they examined the poor young woman.
Juliet laughed, "No you wouldn't have."
Samantha cracked a smile, "I'd like to think I would. But you're right. I wouldn't have. Espesially not with the mood he's in today."

"Haven't you two heard it's rude to laugh while standing over a dead body?" a man's voice joked.

The younger twin groaned when she heard his voice, exasperated, "Oh my god, Shawn. Do you need to be here?"
He shrugged, ignoring the sting the annoyance in her voice gave him, "I can't help it Sam. I was drawn here," he looked around, "Is it just you two alone here? And why do you make it sound like you don't want me here?"

"Maybe because I don't want you here at the moment. Especially with that damn cat." She stated, frustrated he was at another crime scene, and he had a cat that could contaminate anything if he put it down.
He put a hand over his heart, faking hurt to hide the fact that her statement actually did kind of hurt, "Ouch, Sam. Ouch."

Juliet shook her head and pointed to Lassiter's car that just pulled up. The man got out of his car, holding a coffee to-go cup. As he made his way to the crime scene, he managed to spill his drink all over himself.
"Damn it all!"

The young brunette held in a laugh, but not a smile. Her brother, equally amused, spoke up, "Could've happened to anybody."
The older man ignored him, instead referred to the younger detectives, "Talk to me."

Samantha let Juliet speak, knowing the young woman wanted to make a good impression on Lassiter, who was still a little upset his girlfriend got transferred.
"Well, the victim is a female in her late twenties, Gloria Starks. We're waiting for forensics to confirm, but appears to be a suicide. Carbon monoxide poisoning. Asphyxiation."

"Oh, I'm afraid the cat doesn't think so," the 'psychic' stated.
Samantha and Lassiter spoke at the same time.
"Get that thing out of here."
"Turn around and walk away."

Shawn continued, "This cat can tell us if the killer has been here. All I need is thirty seconds. Watch this. You ready boy? Huh? You ready? What? Over here? Where? Wait."

The cat meowed, and Shawn nodded as if understanding him, "That is...that is very thoughtful. I'll tell him. He says the fact that you take three creams and four sugars in your coffee, dangerous."

Juliet looked at the older man in disbelief, "Is that true? Do you really take three creams and four sugars?"
Lassiter, visibly annoyed, shrugged. "So what?"

The older twin spoke with mock concern, "So what? Carly, that is a heart attack waiting to happen. You're still a young man."
The blonde looked at Shawn, "That was amazing. How did you do that?"
"It was a lucky guess." Lassiter snapped.
"Don't you get tired of saying that?" the brunet asked, "Now, with your permission. I'd like the little boy cat to sniff out the car."

"Absolutely not," Carlton sneered.
"Yeah, no. Shawn, that cat shouldn't be here," the Spencer woman reasoned.

Shawn nodded, as if saying he understood. Suddenly he gasped and tossed the cat through the open car window. He looked at the detectives innocently, "Oops." His sister closed her eyes and took a breath, not saying anything. But Shawn did notice she looked more annoyed than normal.
"What did I just say?" barked the older detective.
"Just relax and let him do his job. He might find something."
